I ended up finding some Bronco Sport Big Bend wheels, now I am considering 235/70/17.

In this size the Kumho Crugen HT51 are half the price of Michelin Defenders (my preferred tire.)

I am wondering if anyone has experience with these tires?
From initial reviews, I know they likely aren't as good, and they are louder, but I'm not sure its worth forking out double the price for defenders.

Take a look at the Nokian One. It is a good contender for the Defenders and you don't have to pay the Michelin tax.
I have the Nokian Outpost APTs on mine.

I'm not seeing a 50% price difference. Please post what you are seeing.

I'm in Canada.
I was quoted 150/tire for Crugen with 80 off on a set of 4.
290/tire for the Defenders.

I'm actually a fan of Kumho tires. Years ago I had some on a BMW here in Florida, and they had good Traction in both wet and dry conditions that we have in Florida. And the price was good compared to other options

I had a set of these on my old Ranger, probably the best set of tires for the money I ever owned.

I got them mounted and balanced earlier tonight. It was dark so I didn't take pics.
I'll try to take pics and post more info tomorrow.

I (almost) always run Michelin tires, but on my last truck I didn't want to spend the money and decided to give these a try. They look like copies of the Defenders, except they are also 3-peak rated, as you know. I was very impressed with them - and I did use them in snow as well. Quiet and comfortable ride, plenty of traction, everything I expect out of Michelin tires! I believe I had well over 60k miles on them when I totaled the truck and they still had lots of life in them.

In terms of looks, they fill out the wheel wells way better.

Overall weight is 54lbs each, about 6lbs heavier than the stock XLT wheels each.
I can notice the slightly heavier feel than the stock wheels, and I can also feel the slightly lighter weight than my 57lb winter wheels.

The larger sidewall also helps absorb bumps and it noticeably better compared to my 235/60/18 winters.

I'm sure it's better than my stock 225/65/17 tires, but not by much.

The HT51s feel very similar to Michelin Defenders, but I don't have a proper comparison because I drove the Michelins on a land rover and not a Maverick and any direct comparison wouldn't be fair.

I got an amazing price on these tires at 700 CAD shipped including tax which comes out to $130 USD per tire and its very well worth it IMO.

As for fuel economy, I won't have a good idea for another few weeks until I get a tank or two on them.

How is the fuel economy? I'm a fan of HT51. Nice balance of performance and value.
