I have to post a testimonial as to the quality of Maverick’s safety technology in an emergency incident last month as I was driving down a two-lane canyon road at night.

I crossed through the only signaled intersection in that canyon, when I realized the oncoming vehicle began to turn left (against their red turn light), right into me. No time to avoid them, I hit my brakes, and as I hear many times from others, it all took place in slow motion as I watched the vehicle collide into my driver’s front panel, bounced off and then slid along the side of my door and to the rear where they came to a stop. Ford’s emergency vehicle ‘stop’ technology came into play as I could have rolled off into the ravine had it not engaged. I only rolled about 10 feet before everything in the vehicle shut down and stopped it from progressing forward.

The truck activated the emergency services call, and I was instantly speaking with someone through the vehicle stating they have detected an emergency and asking me if I was ok. The emergency service contacted the highway patrol, asked if I needed an ambulance, and called for a tow truck. I was ok, as was the other driver, who came up to me still sitting in my Maverick, to see if I was ok. I refrained from lashing out at them, just wanted to make sure they were also unharmed.

The ‘funny’ part of the story is that the highway patrol officer just could not stop talking about how awesome my truck is, and how do I like it, and on and on…. Then the tow truck driver arrives, and what is the first thing out of his mouth? “Sir, that is one beautiful truck” … and he promised to take extra special care of it.

My beautiful truck will be in the repair shop for a month. I sent them ‘before’ pics as I had just taken some 1 month before the accident, showing “what it should look like”. There was not a single scratch or blemish. They are a reputable shop I have known for years, and they have vowed to bring it back to how it should be. In the meantime, I hate the 4-Runner rental I must drive. 19 MPG highway is obscene…

That’s a bummer. Glad to hear you’re ok. The Highway patrol are the best. 👍

Thanks for posting this. Sorry to hear that your Maverick got hurt, but happy to hear that nobody got hurt thanks to the safety systems. Hopefully the shop can make it like new again. Always hurts my heart to see a gorgeous Maverick getting wrecked.

So sorry to hear of this, but glad to hear that you came away without incident. Your post will no doubt provide others more confidence in how the Maverick can handle a crash. By the way, it is a beautiful truck!

What is this deminished value settlement you speak of?
The difference between your truck with a clean title, no accident ND now since the wreck your truck will have an accident reported against the serial number.
Ex if u would trade it in be worth let's say $30,000 with an accident your truck, let's say is worth $25000 so the diminished valve is $5000...

I'm going thru the same thing as I type this on my 23 F150 4x4 that was hit hard. When I was completely stopped at a light...I got my dealership to put it in writing the difference a wreck has on my truck valve..

I believe this is a safety feature on all Mavs. I have a Lariat without the co pilot 360.

Agreed, the Highway patrol called me a few days later to check to see that I was still physically alright. Emotionally injured. . . not physically

Thanks for the reply but I'm sure the insurance company will weasel their way out of that one:(

The Mavs have emergency calling assist? I have a 22 Lariat with full 360 safety options. Was this added to later model years or always available as a paid subscription or other?

I wish you the very best of luck. Mine took a hit like that and ended up totaled. If that happens, and insurance sends you a report from 'CCC' that says it's worth a couple thousand less than it really was, I'd fight like a madman against it.

Hi there. Our 2022 Maverick Lariat was rear-ended on 2/26 on a local highway. The driver who slammed into us didn't even leave a skid mark! She was obviously not paying any attention. Anyway, she hit us going about 55 mph and my husband and I are very fortunate not to have sustained any injuries. Unfortunately, our truck has been totaled :-( BUT, the point is, as soon as we got hit my husband and I turned to each other to make sure we weren't hurt, and just then is when I heard a voice saying something like "it looks like you've been in a serious accident. calling 911" and sure enough, the 911 operator came on and then called the state police. I was so surprised by the call made from our Maverick! Oh and by the way, we've already ordered our new 2024 Maverick Lariat! (scheduled for production the week of 4/29)

"911 Assist" comes in all Maverick trims. Requires the option to be enabled on the truck, a cell phone to be connected and still intact along with the trucks power and hardware still intact.

Page 59 in the 2023 manual.
