Sport mode does solve a lot of the shifting issues because it hold gear for longer and higher RPM but still not a manual!

FWIW, My 2022 EB shifted beautifully and smoothly for the entire 8,800 miles I owned it until it was replaced by a 2024 hybrid that doesn't shift at all-
Wonder if it would be a doable reality at least for the FWD 2.0 to swap the Focus tranny in?I previously had a 2018 focus ST with this same engine and a six speed, it a extremely fun combo.
One of the reasons I opted for the Hybrid was the eCVT. I did not want another CVT or manual shift or conventional automatic. Smooth as butter, no rubber band feel, no shifting and no schizo gear hunting.... it was extremely annoying to have this busy and noisy little device hunting gears so aggressively...
Has a similar experience on a trip to Italy with my GF. We booked a rental car to drive from Florence to Tuscany, and once we arrived, the rental place was closed. Hilarity ensued as we had to figure out their tram system while hauling around luggage, and get to a different rental place. We'd reserved an automatic, so either of us could drive it, but that wasn't an option at the new place. It had been about 15 years since I'd last driven a stick, so I did have to find a youtube video for how to shift into reverse (there was a ring to pull up on the shifter) on the Citroen SUV, but after that we were good, other than the crazy traffic and all the scooters cutting between everybody. I loved it, but it did feel just like one of those shows.RE: Millenials and Gen Z = I love watching the TV show "Amazing Race" especially when the show throws in rental cars with manual transmissions and a clutch as is common in Europe and other places. Sometimes the top teams fall behind b/c they can't operate a manual w/clutch.
Me: My wife and I get our 5 speed fix driving an Inferno Red 2003 Chrysler PT Cruiser. It too was assembled in Hermosillo MX and except for replacing the ball joints has been trouble-free.
Before you laugh, the PTC is more fun to shift than the purchased new 2005 BMW 325i 5 speed I had with a stiff clutch and notchy shifter.
Yeah I could see though if you only had one vehicle and it was a Maverick wanting a manual. Agree on the Miata I have a 2005 infiniti G35 sport coupe with a 6-speed manual. Believe it or not I've been contemplating selling it to get a maverick. My daily driver is a 2016 VW golf but I'm debating on given to my son next year as he will be a senior in high school. Both cars have about 36,000 mi on them. Lately I've been driving the infiniti more and I forgot how much I enjoy driving a stick. Thing is though it doesn't have Bluetooth, less practicality overall RWD and it snows around here etc. So I can see how somebody might want a manual AWD. MaverickI had two previous generation Rangers with 5 speeds, and a whole lifetime of manual transmissions before that. I hated the Maverick automatic driving off the lot - it was extremely annoying to have this busy and noisy little device hunting gears so aggressively. Like anything else, I became accustomed to it, and now it's faded into the background along with the well known windshield squeak and ocean liner turning radius - you can get accustomed to anything over time.
I'd personally rather have NO transmission in my Maverick - a BEV. Pure, efficient, abundant, linear power on demand. But for my Miatas - it's manual or nothing. An automatic in a Miata is a crime against car culture.
I guess I'll have to drive one to see. My wife has a regular CVT in her Honda CRV and I hate it. Always feels like a clutch slipping to me. I keep going back and forth between the hybrid or the EB assuming I'm going to get one. In the research phase nowOne of the reasons I opted for the Hybrid was the eCVT. HUGE difference between the Honda CVT and the eCVT in the Mavericks. There is zero slip or rubber band drive feeling. It doesn't use drive chains/bands etc, and has a planetary gearset instead. The Maverick eCVT is like butter and is always where it needs to be. That transmission is what I like most about my Maverick Hybrid! Hands down, it is the best transmission I've ever experienced in a vehicle(short of a fun vehicle with a manual).I guess I'll have to drive one to see. I had a Subaru with a CVT and didn't care for it. If you drive an eCVT you will see there is no resemblance whatsoever to belt & pulley CVTs. And you will immediately want one.I guess I'll have to drive one to see. My wife has a regular CVT in her Honda CRV and I hate it. Always feels like a clutch slipping to me. Florence to Tuscany = Belissimo! I hope while in Florence you took time to see the statue of David and the lesser known architectural marvel of Brunelleschi's Dome. If not, next trip and of course you will reserve a stick, right?Has a similar experience on a trip to Italy with my GF. Closest we would get is he and his friend frequent gratten raceway. I’ve seen his friend around a bit. Also got to meet the stilantis coe before I knew it was him.If anyone has contact information for Jim Farley directly at Ford or has a direct line to get it between his ears that there is potentially another variant of the Maverick specifically one with a manual transmission please let me know I am happy to champion it for us!
