Anyone color-matched/painted side mirror covers?

I have an XLT with plain black side mirrors that are not color matched to the rest of the body.
I found these mirror covers on eB and thought that it would be a cheap and easy and

most importantly, easily un-doable way to attempt to color match the mirrors. I have done this job before but it was almost 35 years ago on a Mercedes 190e side view mirror.

Has anyone tried it, and if so what was your method, choice of paint vendor, and final product?

I have noticed the 2024 models do not have color matched mirrors... real bummer in my opinion. No offense to those that prefer the black, but I think it cheapens the look to not have the mirrors color matched.

Not even the Lariat? So no key pad and no colored mirrors on the 2024s? Makes no sense.

FYI. You can order online rattle can custom color paint by the paint number found on your door sticker. My son and nephew (who also paints aircraft for super big $$$ for a living) rattle can paints motorcycles and helmets for racers. With a little practice rattle can painting can be fabulous.
Edit to add: Hopefully you don't have a tricoat premium paint as cans can be $20-$40 each.

Yeah, the keypad (which I use mine quite often when outdoors hiking, out on the lake, or riding) is now a 'dealer option' and just a stick on panel above the door handle.... crappy.

I just ordered the caps from EBay and ordered 12oz paint can and clear coat from automotivetouchup.com
I've used Automotive Touch up paint before and the match was perfect.

Follow up. Came out well, good color match.

My future plan is to try vinyl wrapping. Not exact match but some tone/pattern that compliments body color. Like on a white it might be a checkered flag pattern or something.

... that is if I don't paint the truck first... still getting the surges of annoyance at option combos on new ones... and getting the urges of "what if I bought a beater, then I could try out some serious hacky stuff" ... so if something appropriately nasty turns up for under 20 kilobuck, then it might be scratched up oxford white and need purtying up.... so yeah I'd have the color I was using.
