What is an auto dim mirror? Never heard of it.
Has a light sensor so when it gets dark outside it dims automatically so headlights behind you aren't as bright.

Standard feature on many vehicles but not Maverick. I installed one on Mav that also has compass and homelink (garage door opener). Liked it so much I bought another and installed it on my old Miata too.

But Kia dealerships caught on to so many people ordering the $25 part for Mavericks so now it's harder to order without a Kia VIN. (they're universal, not made only for Kia).

Love the truck. Have had it 2 yrs now.

needs a tailgate handle sensor for opening and locking. Constantly having to pull out the fob or go to the door keypad to open or lock the tailgate. Annoying as hell.
Good point. I hadn't thought about it- I don't work out of my truck.

I think the add-on numberpad would be a good idea but it would be even cooler to install a separate lock module for the tailgate... and even better to have an option to lock everything with the usual fob/ keypad but unlock ONLY the tailgate separately...

Doesn't it unlock if you touch the drivers side front door handle or is that just the doors (and possibly only on Lariats)?

But I do agree and my Escape had the sensor too - which was cheaper than my Maverick. As long as it detects the key - same as the front drivers side door - then it should open.

One thing I've never experienced though is the foot sensor to open a hatchback. Always wanted one of those.
My wife insisted that her SUV have a kick sensor operated hatch. She always has her hands full and it is a great feature. It would be amazing on a truck but the motorized mechanism is hefty and would be prone to damage on a tailgate.

Hmmm. I guess I never thought of this as an inconvenience. If I need everything unlocked, I simply double-click the key fob and everything unlocks.

Maybe I didn’t understand your comment.

You might want to retitle this thread... "Biggest flaw in the design for me, but not anybody else on the planet.".

Just watching, not yet ordered.
Do all Mavericks have a locking tailgate?
My truck is a '13 and never saw a locking tailgate before.

Od like to have a separate button for the tailgate. When I unlock the truck would like that to remain locked.

I haven't been using the bed or tailgate much (my Rough Country hard tri-fold tonneau is not yet enroute) but I can see the nuisance factor involved with the tailgate already.
I have an XLT and for me it's not a problem. If I double click on the key flop to unlock it unlocks the tailgate as well. When I hit lock it locks the tailgate as well as all the trucks doors automatically. I would only see this as an issue on the Excel which does not have the tailgate lock and you have to use a key

Not a problem for my usage. As a reference point, my $55K Silverado LTZ operates same as Maverick.
I prefer not to have a sensor that adds complexity without benefit.

Funny, my Silverado HD has one.

Yes. I’m going to add the adhesive keypad to the tailgate. I have a wired keypad at the door

Even many cheap cars have trunk sensor so you don’t need pull out fob every time you open trunk. Not a luxury item these days.

a sensor is the least of your worries on a vehicle that runs on millions of lines of code.

I'm just happy it has a lock. 2 years for me too.
