Rear Winch Idea

I've thought about something like that, but it does complicate things. My Ideal solution would be something that when not in use I can stash in the storage area under the back seats, and having a secondary battery pushes that outside the realm. A winch in the garage does me no good if I need it in the woods that day .

I do have a deep cycle battery in a box I use with a canoe trolling motor, or for extra juice when off grid camping (I can charge it from my tiny camper's solar panels), but bringing it everywhere is not a good solution for me

I was thinking more of a always there sorta thing. But yeah just make sure those cables are pure copper other wise they will cook and only last a couple years at best. Or make your own. There are also smaller winches that just mount with a hook, but they typically max out around 1-2000lbs.

So I'm considering a small ATV winch on a trailer hitch to assist with jobs I sometimes need to do. IE pull out the dock for winter at the cottage, pull logs to clear the trail, or firewood, assist a stuck friends crossover, or get my trailer unstuck.

looking at a winch and hitch setup like these, no I dont plan on using my Mav as an offroad recovery vehicle, but it might be useful to get me unstuck too at some point

I might attempt to put a 900 pound golf cart in the back. Then again, may not. But your success is inspiring.
I do not have welding materials.
I'm going to need everything to be bolt-on or pin-on.

The mounting bracket on the Amazon link you have listed my have too small of a bolt pattern for the 4500 pound winch your showing. Check it out further. Get your self a separate battery to hook the cables up to. And carry a Snatch block for leverage being the Maverick is a smaller truck.

Have only owned one Mav, but 3 CB5X, 2014, 2016 & 2019 which is best of bunch. For a brief period, had all 3 at the same time. Mav and CB5X work well together, both are all purpose, all road vehicles that are fun to drive/ride.

I have electric winch in my Maverick Hybrid and that in bed 2x6 slot was perfect for dropping in a 2x6 steel thin wall tube with a winch mounted on top and battery box mounted on the end of the tube -have a cut off switch to power it down so remote receiver does not draw down the battery . .I use an aluminum tri fold ATV ramp that I cut dow to fit in the truck bed and typically thread winch cable under the ATV and pull from rear of ate so if front wheels are too wide for wheel well humps the front wheels are free to ride up - The battery makes a good "stop ' for the ATV front wheel before it might hit rear window . I put a charger on the battery after each use as the 12VDC or A/C inverter in truck bed is useless except for toys .This whole unit is a drop in as I have similar in my REAL truck a 4x4 Tundra with similar winch set up . Sure makes easy for loading anything in back of truck as even drug an excavator bucked in back of MAV as used same ramp with some plywood scraps to skid bucket up the ATV ramp
