Sorry if this has been mentioned before but I've noticed when I have my wipers on the first "on" setting, regardless of the frequency speed, the wipers will come to a rest, then skip down to a lower position (but not as far as when completely off).

It doesn't matter how wet the windshield is, and the wipers don't skip during the actual sweep of the glass. When I turn it to the next "on" setting (the continuous mode) it does not do this skip at the end, and the wipers end the downstroke where the skip would usually start, before immediately starting the upstroke.

When I turn the wipers completely off, they drop down into the hood wiper well, below even where this skip drops to.

Has anyone else had this happen/is it normal?

Not sure I follow your issue, but my wipers follow the same pattern, regardless of mode. The only time they "drop" into the well is at the end of swipe, or off.

I'm curious. How far into the "well"? My wipers are clearly visible on the glass when wipers are off.

Not completely down as when it's off. It's hard to describe. When it's off it's completely out of sight. When I turn it one notch on (when you can adjust the speed with the dial) it will do a sweep and then stop maybe an inch above the wiper defrosting zone, pause for a half a second, then skip down to flush with the top of the defrost zone, but not actually in it.

When I turn the wipers on the continuous setting each sweep ends at that spot about an inch above the defrost zone. Idk why the intermittent mode skips around at the end of the swipe.

Yeah, mine are not completely out of sight when off.

Do you have a defrost spot built into your windshield? Maybe it's setting it down into that? My XL doesn't have a defrost except the heater and doesn't skip down when it gets to the bottom of the stroke.

Just wanted to comment here that you are not alone, my Maverick does this and several others as well. I have found that using the Rain-X Latitude wipers helps with the issue a lot (no idea why), but they do still skip occasionally. It drives me nuts and I hate driving in the rain because of it.
