Got a turn signal recall on my 23XLEBA51

Had mine fixed with my first oil change about a month ago. ten minutes. Just a software update.

You said they updated it. Was your blinkers not working, otherwise why would they update software. Mine is working. So why go through the whole ordeal?

What exactly happens with the turn signals?

What I read is the software update is to get the blinkers working. Or does Ford believe the update will prevent in from going out in future because they perceive it will?

My 22' XL will be going in this Friday. Looks like I will likely have to reprogram my Cruise Control and TPMS disable after the recall fix. I'll just laugh if they mention anything about my LED's, Auto Start/Stop Eliminator, and Catch Can.

What is a TPMS disable? Does that mean you disable the visuals for Tire inflation levels seen in the monitor.

Can you share a bit? I would like to disable it once i rotate my tires if thats the case

Normally, when a bulb burns out or goes bad in a car, when you throw the lever for the turn signal to work, the indicator on the dashboard will blink real fast, letting you know that a bulb is out. Apparently, this has NOT been happening with the Maverick. Thus, if you turn on your signal, you are assuming the person behind you sees your rear light flashing and if the bulb is out, without the update, the dash indicator will NOT flash rapidly. The update fixes the issue.

I got the letter early this week. The dealership called today to schedule a tech out to my house tomorrow.

The recall is to fix the sensor that tells you if a rear turn signal lamp goes out, not to fix a turn signal.

You will need to use FORScan and disable TIRE PRESSURE MONITOR in the BCM module. I upgraded to a different set of tires and didn't want the damn things. You will not get the warning light and the readings wont be present.

I like that idea. is the forscan difficult to learn?

There are plenty of videos/tutorials on YouTube. It’s not very hard at all. You will need to have a laptop, OBD2 cable, and FORScan free trial or subscription.

Question: If I am not having a blinker problem, all lights blink and sound heard in the cabin when turn signal is on. Do I need to still go to dealer and get program update or can I just wait until and if ever it happens. And will program update still be covered?

I would have it done. Most dealers will do it via their mobile service. Not knowing either of your rear turn signals isn't working is a concern of mine. Takes them 15 minutes to do.

I will make a call, especially since you mentioned mobile service. I just didn't want to sit at dealer half day even though job takes 15 minutes, as the letter ford sent me said could be half day of work.
Hope they are accurate with their times and don't say within a four hour frame of time.

As far as signal is corcerned. If my turn signals are giving me a clicking sound and the light is blinking on the instrument panel. Then I thought that means all is ok. Could that be potentially wrong. Blink and sound are not 100% indicators of a good system?
