Techs refused to properly vent the dryer out the side so they left me with this. Despite a half dozen calls to the company no one will come out to do it right. Saving this pic for the insurance claim when the house burns down…

to clarify what youre looking at, this is the left side of the dryer. About 3 inches of space between the dryer and wall. What they should have done is used the dryer's side vent option to create a straight, unobstructed run right out though the wall. But the techs and Lowe’s customer support say they can only use the default rear vent. ok….

I finally bought a miele dryer, heat pump front venting, no hose. More expensive, but expected to last 25 years. Was done with that dumb hose and cleaning the line of lint so the house doesn't burn down.

Yes, ventless dryers are great. I have a Whirlpool Electric Ventless hybrid Dryer that has been working great for six+ years. The heat pump saves on electric and eliminates the outside vent where mice/rodents can get in.

I wouldn't be saving this picture for the insurance company! I'd call that shooting yourself in the foot.
It is evidence to your insurance company that you were aware of an improper and unsafe installation, yet did not mitigate the risk of fire by fixing it.

Making Lowes redo a poor install is one thing, but this should be dealt with now, not with an "I told them so" to the insurance company after a preventable fire that could be serious.

venting out the side of the dryer won't solve a close quarters situation.
You need an adjustable low profile adapter

Can't you just pull the dryer out like 2 inches?

Flex foil is against code for dryer venting in my area also. You can only use it for bathroom fan venting or other non-thermal vent applications. For dryer venting you can only use semi-rigid for transitional runs and solid ductwork for longer runs. I had to replace my whole dryer vent system to remove the builder’s flex foil due to fire hazard. My dryer vent system is 16’ long !

Wait, are you saying you expected Lowe's to make a hole thru your wall to use the side vent?

There already is a hole through the wall for the vent -- the old unit ran directly out, properly. The issue is Lowes wouldn't properly adjust the dryer vent to exit out the side; they used the default rear-facing output and jammed the hose all the way behind the dryer, around a corner, and then out thru the wall.

If needed, sure. Happy to get one if that's what it takes.

Yup, getting it done right. After a long fight with lowes they're coming to take it back today. Had to go all the way to the CC company to dispute the charge. That was the only thing that seemed to get their attention.

Good for you. People seem to roll over too easily and allow shoddy work.
