Havent received it yet, but I went ahead and bought this kit. I like that its all internal and has no XM controller that I mount in the interior. Supposedly, XM will show up as an option with the stock XLT radio.

Concerned how I am going to mount the antenna. Pretty sure it needs to go on the roof, but I don't know how I'm going to route the wire to the inside.

Anybody else here mounted this setup?

I just use the app. The phone app shows up on the screen. Many more options from the phnoe. Unless cell coverage is an issue. $350=No way.
Living in a very rural area in the mountains there is very little cell coverage. My work commute is 45min each way. Long term I think it will be worth it.

I used SiriusXM over 10 years but quit it close to 10 years ago now. I'm in Kansas and I never had issues with antennas in the rear glass of sedans but didn't have a truck. I would try the upper right corner of the windshield and bring the cable down the a pillar, being careful of the airbag.

to answer your question about the roof, I would definitely not make a new penetration. you can drop down the headliner and use the hole for the factory antenna mount. this isn't a simple thing so I would try the windshield first for sure. and then personally I would find a carfi shop that has done this a lot (probably not in a maverick).

This might help with some installation. I have good reception with the antenna on the dash of my Camry. www.mavericktruckclub.com/forum/threads/sirius-xm-install-in-xl-hybrid-commander-touch-tool-less-almost.20270/

I'm more curious to see if it actually works with the factory head unit. It is expensive, but sometimes it costs $$ to get what you want. If it works, I say it is worth every penny as long as the op is happy.

I get the cell phone coverage. The other bonus with your purchase is that you can put in another vehicle at a later time. Before the app, when I had an external Sirius head unit, I placed the antenna on the roof, ran the wire under the rubber molding on the windshield, through the door hinge area and under the dash. Good Luck!

For that money you could get a used ford part and have a factory setup.

I have this in my Maverick. Works great, there are times it stops working after taking a call. Then just unplug and plug back in works. I like this setup because I don't like having the phone plugged in and over charging it. We a lot of road trips and it's great for that. Had mine installed at an audio shop they put the antenna left side above windshield.

Should work. Funny enough, the example pic they give is of a Maverick.

It is absolutely outrageous for Ford to not offer Sirius in the XL or XLT. I use Carplay, but sometimes it is a hassle and dangerous distraction.

My dealer had this kit installed in my 23 Mav Lariat hybrid. Antennae was mounted on the roof just behind the stock radio antennae. The wire for the antennae comes out of the third brake light hole, runs behind the third brake light and up to the roof. Works off the factory radio as an added audio source.

We went to a car audio store in Ocala 1 week after we bought truck. For couple hundred they installed it,the antenna is very small, almost flat.Don't even notice it on dash in the middle. Works great, absolution problem )))
