While waiting after ordering a new Maverick on December 1st last year, I have spent a lot of time on this forum looking at posts and considering options for accessories, with lots of good reading. Also, I have started counting Mavericks I encounter on the road and in parking lots when out and about. Back in December, I rarely saw one but lately am seeing one or two a day. Usually my driving only includes going to tennis and back home and an occasional trip to the store. My wife and I went out to eat last night, which accounts for seeing two more Mavericks after seeing one during the day. I even got my Wife obsessed with counting Mavericks to the point that it may become a competition. I know where a Home Depot employee parks his, so I could cheat by going to Home Depot and counting it each day. Going to the dealership is less productive since there is rarely more than one on the lot, except for employee vehicles.

As far as the Maverick's competition, the Hyundai Santa Cruz, I don't think I've seen more than two on the road since December 1st. My wife and I went to the Hyundai dealership the other day and saw a lot of Santa Cruz's on the lot. They were all loaded and in the 40ks price range, unlike the Mavericks on the Ford lot with lack of options we want and priced below 30k. At the Hyundai dealership, long lines were observed at the service entrance. Checking the Santa Cruz Owner's forum on-line revealed lots of complaints, including clunking sounds while driving without a resolution and a trailer wiring recall requiring dealers to rip out the wiring because it might cause a fire and with no solution to replace it. My impatience actually did cause me to give the Santa Cruz consideration as a more available alternative. Only their SEL trim was comparable in price, and it included a non-turbo engine that was far inferior to the 2.0L Ecoboost Maverick engine.

I think I'm running out of obsessive-compulsive options during my wait for delivery of the Maverick and may have to just quietly go about life's daily activities. Of course there's still reading the Maverick forum and hearing about owners enjoying their vehicles.☹

I was in high school in the early to mid 70's. During that time, custom van's and small pickup trucks was the rave!! The Ford Courier, Datsun and Chevy Luv were the top ones with Datsun being #1. They couldn't buid them fast enough!! I wish I had pictures of some of them, but the customization of these trucks ran the complete spectrum. From just custom wheels and a lower stance to the full tilt $40,000 overhaul ($80,000 in todays money). Mini fridge, carpeting, custom shells..........etc. There was an entire industy just for the mini truck. My guess is we are on are way back to it!!

you haven't begun collecting accessories yet... That will bide you some time while you wait...

I bought a few things months ago.. Took delivery of my ordered truck 10 days ago and the next day installed all of that delightful stuff (some photos in the HPR photo thread). Now, I have ordered two things since (dog hammack to protect back seat and doors when I have the pooches and the new Diode Dynamics Fog Light Kit that was released yesterday).

Welcome!! Most of us on here have had Maverick fever to at least some degree, myself included.

So what color, trim level, and factory options did you order?

I would venture to guess that you should get your truck within six months of your order date as a rule of thumb. It’s good to do your research in advance but there’s no need to start ordering accessories until you get a scheduled build date.

HA!! If you live anywhere near Daytona Beach, there's quite a few of us out and about. I'm beginning to learn who the local Maverick owners are parked on two of my drive-home routes. Our local beer distributor has embraced a fleet of white Mavericks! Maverick: Bringing Beer to the People!

Shortly after receiving my Maverick in April 2022 when they were still fairly rare to be seen, I pulled up at Culvers one day and there was a gorgeous Iconic Silver XLT in the parking lot. Took a nice long look and the owner noticed me outside and came to chat about his ride.

I still get looks from people wondering what I'm driving. Last weekend I went to pick up Chinese food and there was an older couple stranded who were waiting for AAA to get their keys unlocked from their car. Had a conversation with them about the Maverick and when I told them what I'd paid for mine, the husband perked up and said, "That's not bad!"

I've ordered a Carbonated Gray Metallic XLT AWD with FX4, Co-Pilot & Moon Roof. Scheduled for production week of 1/29. Considering a Rough Country bed mat. Not sure what's available to protect the tailgate.

Wow! I do like wiring diagrams. Had to get one for a Honda some years back.

After ordering the Maverick, it occurred to me that I could install a touchscreen radio in my 20 year old pickup instead of getting a new truck to get all the new stuff. However, replacing the 2WD with AWD would not be as easy.

I'm living in Daytona Beach. I'll keep an eye out for you, or maybe I've already counted you. Haven't seen the beer distributor trucks.

If you want to count Mavericks at the dealership, check the service lot.

You'll know you've seen me if you cross paths with a carbonized gray XL with King Nermal the RipNDip cat on my back window giving the two finger salute. ;)

I'll not honk when I see you unless in a Maverick. Actually, honking in Florida may not be a good idea anyway with our reputation for being a state full of crazy people. Yeah, I guess I'm part of the problem.

Honking is okay. Maverick drivers need their own wave like Jeep and Harley people do. All bets are off the moment someone starts approaching in an aggressive manner. <--This has NEVER been an issue when people approach to ask questions about the Maverick. ;)

I was in that frame last year. 10 months in out of patience, called Hyundai said I wanted the Santa Claus. Luckily, that very day got the sacred build email. Couldn't be happier, and its probably best winter driving rigs I've owned. EB, getting 28+ mpg, getting close to my MAZDA CX-30 at 32. So actually I seem to lean a bit more toward the Mav. Great starter truck!
