Today marks 2 weeks and 1 day. I went to Line-x to get the spray in bedliner.

First truck so first experience with such an upgrade, so I didn't know what to expect.

If any one can chime in with what I noticed if it was normal?

-some over spray on to my paint that isn't the bed or the part of the tailgate that needs to be sprayed.
I imagine those parts can be wiped off since the area wasn't prepped for the spray to bond. Goo Gone or alcohol maybe.

-The part of the tailgate panel that they remove, the area where the locking mechanism is located, it seems they sprayed in there as well.
I couldn't key lock my tailgate at first, then it was stuck and can't be unlocked.
Informed them of this then they came over to remove the panel of the tailgate to chip off the bedliner spray that is on the lock.
Will need to remove the panel myself and inspect when I get a chance.

-The part of the tailgate that latches to the bed when you close the tailgate, also over sprays on the latches. Some of the spray was able to chip off easily at the parts that latch on to the bed. Will inspect tomorrow if the other parts of this area is also sprayed and will cause any problems.

-All the rubber grommets(the ones to pass wires through or for tonneau drain holes) have been sprayed on, should i remove them as soon as possible so they don't get stuck forever? Or when the time comes, I just need to drill through those sprayed on rubber grommets.

-Last one I believe is just normal, all the holes(ie the holes for tie downs) are sprayed into so it's just a matter of me tapping the holes when it's time to add accessories. I have an XL so there are more holes that aren't being used yet.

Of course I took care of my Maverick's 6 today, but on the way home something flew and chipped my windshield. I guess I can no longer act like my Maverick perfect and pristine so that it is some weight off my shoulders, because it's a truck and it's going to be trucking.

Thank you for any input. Pics will probably help so I will update when I get a chance.

Take it back let them fix the “problems” they created

I had an extremely similar experience to you. This wasn't North Shore Line-X by chance, was it?

Did they spray over your 12V flex-port covers too?

Very interested to hear. No matter what they shouldn't be spraying over the rubber grommets. Those are for tonneau cover / wiring and should be accessible.

wow, bingo.
Covers weren't sprayed on thankfully.

When I asked about the rubber grommet on if I should remove them before the spray cures, the response was something along the lines that it hasn't been a concern from other customers.

I guess I need to say something about the rubber grommets then.

Yeah, give me a minute to get the pics from the job they did on mine. It's seriously shitty that they put jobs like this out the door. I had a feeling it wouldn't just be me. I got the same excuse that spraying over grommets is their SOP.

Ask to talk to Eric, the owner. He made everything right by replacing the broken parts and re-spraying my bed but this "wait until they complain" way he runs his business is pretty shit.

Where on the east coast so I know to avoid this shop.
North Shore Line-X in Massachusetts.

Here's the list from the shit job they did on my Lariat:
  • Sprayed too thin (note the yellow showing through).
  • Wire for tailgate wiring ran through wrong hole.
  • Overspray on bumper cover, tow hitch, and the crack between the taillights and the rear quarters (not pictured).
  • Both bins/panels screw holes stressed/cracked from over-tightening.
  • 12V Flex-Port covers sprayed over.
  • All grommets sprayed over.
  • Lower corners of the tailgate not sprayed.
Here's the list of parts needed:

You are far enough away! It happened in Masshole.

BTW is the gas station fried chicken actually edible in NC? First time I saw fried chicken being offered in that style at a gas station in the Carolinas while I was driving through to get to a race track.

Appreciate the pictures, gives me more of an idea to examine thoroughly.

I haven't even mentioned that the torx screws on tailgate is starting to strip, NEVER USE POWER TOOLS WITH TORX MANGGGGGGGGGGGGG.

I think it's raining tomorrow too so it will be fun examining the bed before I make the call.

Sure the tailgate worked after he chipped the spray off, but I still need to see for myself.

Good news is that they took care of it for you.

Forgot to mention that - two of my tie-down Torx screws were partially stripped from them tightening them at an angle (secondary to using an impact in the first place...). They were still operable so I didn't try to have him replace them but yeah... not a great experience.

is this the cover? oh boy, will confirm tomorrow but I think that was sprayed too.

Yep that's the one. There's a dedicated 12V circuit behind the cover to power DIY accessories.

If yours was sprayed over, you're definitely in for some parts and potentially a re-spray.

Funnily enough, you zooming in on the photo made me realize that the partially stripped Torx is visible - top bolt of that tie down in your circle.

Had a shitty experience with Line X west palm beach. Their overspray ended up on the hood, front bumper, and drivers side door.
Also, they have cameras in their shop that they put on CCTV in the customer waiting area. Snapped a photo of their installer using the hood of my truck as his toolbox. The sad part is that he had a table for tools a foot away.

I had my Maverick done at Bullet Liner in Green Bay as soon as it arrived. They also rustproofed & undercoated it. No overspray anywhere & they did an excellent job.
