Have you tried to hand buff it with a very light scratch removing product? Clean the area first, then progressively work on it with a soft clean rag. Then drive on a muddy country road and the mud will make it all but disappear.

Might not of happened if you were backing up instead of baking up, I know it the Holidays, baking is good.
