Dude you are going to be cancelling your order for everyone then. Also, the competition? What competition? A Hyundai? Good luck.
Hyundai isn’t the only other company, I want a Maverick because I like them but if I go with something else it doesn’t need to be a small truck. I just expect a dealer to be upfront with me. I only learned about the delay madness of the last few years after joining this club last month. If delays are still that bad then my dealer is either incompetent for not knowing or is a liar for misleading me.
IF it’s going to be 9 months and he told me upfront I could make that decision at that point (probably wouldn’t do it). But if he he lured me with approx 3 months, knowing it’s 9 then I just don’t do business with them. Pretty straight forward.
I’m still taking him at his word for now.

They are being upfront with you in the hopes they don't deter you. Their estimate is essentially useless. They are guesstimating at best. Most smart dealers won't even give you a guesstimate - they will just say essentially "Now the waiting game begins from 6 months to a year and a half. Good luck!". This is why people fight their "need" for a deposit and if they do put one down, make sure it's refundable.

I'm not trying to deter you, but you can check any forum from any manufacturer and it's the same report. 6 months is a surprise and anything beyond that up to a year and a half should be expected. Patience is key for a new vehicle when ordering. If you need one ASAP, don't order one.

Can I ask why the rush? You don't have to tell us, but if it's an unreliable vehicle, I'd say look for something you can get off the lot much quicker and then in a year or two think about placing an order.

At least saying “Good luck, enjoy the waiting game” is honest if that is all they know. But that’s not what I was told. I naively went there in Oct thinking I could buy one on the lot (ok my bad, but I wasn’t on MTC before and didn’t know any other Mav owners….errr….buyers). He said the ones on the lot were sold and there is a wait. We talked about wait time and he even went as far pulling up another customer’s order that was placed in Sept. He had just received confirmation that day (approx 1 month later) of a build date for Nov. He said I should expect the same: 1 month for the confirmation, build date would probably be Dec and delivery was the only wild card he didn’t know but he felt confident it would be Jan. All in all 3 months-ish.
Reason for the rush is I left my company, therefore lost company truck leaving my fam with 1 small crossover. I knew what I wanted to replace the company truck with a Mav so I bought a small used car that I can resale quickly in Jan once I get the Mav. I do a lot of outdoor stuff down snow covered roads Feb/Mar and like to do camping/fishing in some rougher terrain early spring.
So if I back out of the Mav deal next month I can find something else to meet my needs. Unfortunately it will cost more and isn’t exactly what I wanted. As tempting as it is to wait I just couldn’t do it if I knew the dealer misled me. For now I’m keeping my fingers crossed that he know what he’s talked about. But this forum is really making it hard to keep the faith.

I'd personally wait it out but 3 months is definitely running on hopes and dreams. Could also depend on your model and location. Lot's of variables. But I think most will agree that expecting it in 3 months probably isn't the most reliable thing. Who knows, you may get lucky and someone backs out of theirs then you can grab it if you like it? Sorry man, that's just the game now days. It's hurry up and wait.

It’s a black Lariat Tremor, Toronto area. You’re probably right that the timeline isn’t realistic. Which aggravates me because if you know this then he should know this. But he kept being insistent. I even had him pull the tonneau after joining MTC and reading about potential delays. He called me a few days later and said to put it back on because he got confirmation that it won’t cause any delays.
If I do luck out and get it as quickly as he said then I might need to hold off a few months on sharing pics on MTC or I may become the most hated person on this forum.

nah man you are good. I think a lot of people run into this scenario and it's frustrating. It's understandable for the most part. Maybe some will report different but it doesn't seem to be the most common thing. Keep in mind that most dealers just sit behind a screen now days and they don't really care. If you don't buy it someone else will. They know this. If it was an $80k F150 then they might be a bit more realistic and they probably have 10 of them on the lot for that reason... But it's a vehicle that people can afford and options really don't matter overall - it will sell in a week or two at most on the lot. I think most of them just want to be able to place the order for that reason.

As for accessories... totally up to you but I wouldn't order anything at the dealer until the truck gets in and even then, you can likely find it cheaper elsewhere. Plus, FORD points whatever the hell that is... I'd believe what folks report for delays on this forum more than I would a random dealer.

At the end of the day I guess I’ll be learning a lesson one way or another. TBD is whether that lesson is to not trust that dealer, or to listen to the dealer and not stress over internet chatter. I’m hoping it’s the latter but I’m being realistic and I think I know where this is unfortunately heading.

RE: "order 10/11" Of what year? 2022 or 2023? I ask because my 9/2022 order for a 23MY rolled over to a 24MY. I got my truck '24 Mav on 11/17/23 - about 425 days after the original order. I did get about 3 emails from FoMoCo over that period.

BEWARE: Did you get a private offer and certificate number to offset the increased price? I did but at the one yard line in the sales office on 11/17/23 the dealer said there was a "problem" and the Smart Vincent system wouldn't apply the full amount. According to Ford Customer Service, the $$ from the offer goes to the dealer and the dealer has control over how much to apply to your transaction. YOU DO NOT AUTOMATICALLY GET THE FULL AMOUNT OF THE PRIVATE OFFER! It is between you and the dealer, and FoMoCo has no control. If the dealer doesn't pass the full amount or any amount on to you, you must squawk or walk away.

If you are wanting one that quickly you might want to think about searching for one that is on a dealer’s lot and be prepared to pay a few thousand over MSRP.

If you ordered a Hybrid, sad to say you will have a longer wait than the 2.0 Ecoboost. My 2023 XLT Hybrid just arrived this week, took delivery last night. Finally home - 1 year and 2 months later!

Nah. I ordered exactly what I want and I’m not paying more than the price we agreed on. IF I have to buy something else it will have to be somewhere else. I’m not going to reward deceptive sales tactics with more money. I really want the Mav but gotta have some self respect.

Congrats. It looks great! Mine isn’t a hybrid. Lariat Tremor. I’m not sure if that’s a good or bad thing for the timeline.
I assume your dealer didn't imply that you’d have it in about 3 months when they sold it to you?
