I have always had drop in liners in my previous trucks and believe it or not I prefer how they are slick/slippery. I find loading stuff much easier. After doing a bit of research, it sounds like I risk rusting out my bed so I think I am going to get either a rhino or Line-X spray in bedliner. I was hoping to get some input from you guys on which you prefer and maybe some advantages/disadvantages to them and which one is less "grippy" and more like a drop in. Thanks guys as always this forum is awesome

I had rhino done and it's fairly grippy. I don't think there's much difference between them but maybe someone else will chime in.

Thanks for the input. Are the spray in liners easy to clean?

LineX quoted me 1200
Rhino quoted me 650
Guess which one I went with.
All holes were plugged so they were all open after spray in.
I'm happy with it and plenty tough for what I use it for. I hauled a washer to the dump once and hauled new one home. Didn't scratch up sliding in or out.
Spray out with a hose and scrub with a broom if ya want to clean it.

If price was the same would you still recommend rhino? Where i am the local Line-X dealer and the ziebart location that does Rhino are both priced at $575. The difference is that at that price point it is a standard line-X liner not their premium. Ziebart said they don't have different tiered liners, just the one Rhino

I would recommend rhino at same price point. Linex is blacker and more abrasive in my experience. I'll try and grab a few pics off my tailgate.

Thanks Bluegrass! If you willing to take a few photos that would be great, if not I completely understand.

Thanks for the pics! Gives me a good idea what the material looks like. It looks like it is pretty thick and will do a nice job protecting the bed

I've had basically all the options over the years in various trucks (bare bed, bed mat, drop-in, OEM spray-in, Line-X, Rhino Liner, DIY Herculiner, Bed Rug). I prefer drop-ins for the same reason. Easier to slide things around and strap it in place on a drop-in. They are also dent-resistant, stain-resistant, and wash/sweep/wipe clean easily.

it sounds like I risk rusting out my bed
You'll be fine if you have some sort of bed cover. If you have an open bed, I suggest drop-ins if you're in the southwest. Water (even condensation) can get trapped under the drop-in. Drop-ins also tend to rub the paint off in small spots.

which one is less "grippy" and more like a drop in
Rhino-Liner is more rubbery/grippy, whereas Line-X is more like coarse sandpaper.

Are the spray in liners easy to clean?
Compared to drop-ins, no. Spray-ins stain pretty easily, dust and dirt will get trapped in the texture, and they won't ever look as clean as the day it was applied unless you pressure wash it. And even then it'll take you a while with a $99 Home Depot pressure washer. I used to detail cars for a living and could see 2" stripes from homeowners trying to wash their spray-ins before giving up and calling me.

If you're okay with having a bed that isn't a showroom finish all the time, then consider a spray-in. Otherwise you'll be driving yourself crazy trying to keep it looking clean and new. Spray-in's can't be dusted or wiped (easily anyway).

Wow, thanks for the reply notfast! So in your opinion after having the various liners over the years do you believe the rusting under the drop in really isn't as much of an issue as people make it out to be? I am located in Ohio where we do get our fair share of rain and snow. I do have a tonneau cover waiting to be installed.

Yes and no. Again, depends on whether the bed is covered and where the truck spends most of its time.

My first F-150 had a drop-in for 15 years but had a tonneau cover for that entire time. I had moisture underneath on humid days and water intrusion from washing the bed liner out, but the paint never bubbled.

My F-250 had a drop-in and an open bed for close to ten years. The drop-in rubbed the bed to bare metal in spots, but it never rusted. The truck spent its whole life in the southwest where it's pretty arid.

I do have a tonneau cover waiting to be installed.
In that case I'd say you'd be fine with a drop-in. The road salt will probably rust out the bed from the bottom faster than the drop-in will rust out the bed from the top.

I've had Rhino. It was softer. It never tore in my truck but some others in magazine reviews had reported issues.
I had Line-X Premium sprayed in my new Maverick. $ 801 dollars and change including Florida tax.
A Rough Country 3/8" thick rubber mat, $ 99.95, went in on top of the Line-X.
I like the belt & suspenders approach. I've done this in my last three pick-ups with excellent luck.

Over the years I've had rhino factory and drop ins. For my Tremor I went with the Line-x and am impressed with the application the appearance and the protection. If you can get the Line-x near the same price point as rhino its a much better deal with a better liner. The rhino application is more of a "spray everything" whereas the Line-x application removed everything did the application and replaced everything. Much more detailed and way better end result. Stay the hell away from drop ins unless your truck is garaged and out of the weather if you plan on keeping the truck for any length of time-otherwise when you remove it you will end up with a rust bucket.

that is how I would describe Ford's factory spray-in bedliner as well.

I haven't seen bare metal yet, but several times after hauling metal or wood I've found small chunks of rubber-like SIBL.

I didn't have a choice; when I ordered my truck, all lariat lux included Ford's SIBL. But if I did have a choice, I would do Line-X. It is harder and has a sandpaper-like texture.
