Tailgate is steel. I’ve used a product mainly used in the HVAC market when cleaning furnace ducts picture included. Any of the big box companies carry it.Looks like the solution for covering the tailgate hole has mostly gone the 3D Printing route and it's a great solution. But, I'm still more of a DIY guy and continue to look for other, maybe cheaper, solutions.
I don't have my Mav yet, its currently in production and hope to have by Christmas.
Is the tailgate steel or aluminum?
If steel, a magnetic sheet (the type used for temporary signs on the side of cars or truck) could be used. Cut larger than the hole. Easy on, easy off. Hobby Lobby has these sheets for a couple of bucks, maybe too thin? Or find something more heavy duty on Anazon.
Just a thought.
DadsLariat, if you do decide to go with the magnetic sheeting option, I would recommend peeling it back occasionally and checking to make sure no rust is forming around the areas where the two overlap.Looks like the solution for covering the tailgate hole has mostly gone the 3D Printing route and it's a great solution. Do you think there would be enough of a demand for them to r&d and tool up for a $10 part like that? Thanks for the advise to remove the magnetic cover every now and then to eliminate rust potential. Using the magnet solution may only be temporary until the 3D solution or something similar becomes readily available on ebay or amazon. Like the inexpensive Muslogy console/dash inserts.
Thanks for this! Thought about getting some made at a library, but the open hours didn't work well. This is great!I had some of these printed up and they work well. I've hot some extra sets of these inserts so if you would like to purchase a set of inserts, E-transfer $10 CAD if you are in Canada or $9 USD if you are in the USA to [email protected] and I will send you a set of inserts by Canada Post. Please ensure you enter your name and complete mailing address in the comments section of the E-transfer.

This is why I don’t post my designs on thingiverse. Someone ultimately grabs them, ignores copyright, and starts selling them to make a profit off of my work.Hey guys. I wanted to post my printout here and see if anyone's interested. My printer renders a really exterior nice texture. I'm selling them for $15 (free US shipping). Email me at [email protected] and we can take it from there.
