They had a photo of the instrument panel in the manual, and though I appreciate the unique coloring and look of the blues and oranges, the black all around looks sharp! Thats all. :geek:

I sure agree, it's sleek looking!

I may phase out some of the more "eye catching" orange pieces with matte black. I do like the looks of matte covers I'm seeing advertised for just about everything Maverick dash related.

The Maverick owner's manual is the worst one I have seen since I bought my first Japanese motorcycle in the mid 60's.

I agree with you ,it sucks , Evelyn Woods would have a hard time reading it .
As far as Japanese manuals , I have a manual directly from Honda , actual photographs ,clear and concise, and no typos . It is exclusivly for the Honda 350 , I used it on my 1968 honda and my Current CL350 . I am currently overhauling the carbs , OH what fun .

I have done the carbs on a few 350's. Be VERY CAREFUL adjusting the floats. The two carbs must match.
After installation, pull a plug wire and keep turning up the rpm setting until it will "idle". Note the rpm. Put the plug wire back on and pull the other one. Same drill. Put both plug wires on and turn each carb idle setting back the exact same amount. Start it and adjust each carb a TEENY bit at a time until you get the desired idle speed.
Good Luck and have fun. Those old 350/360 Honda were jewels.

I agree, the owner's manual is the worst I've ever had. It's worthless for any of the comp!coated stuff. For the easy things there are great big drawings, as filler.

Thanks you the tip ,I gotta cut and paste this info . BTW , my 68 CL350 was fast, 100MPH easy
a lot less weight to carry back then .
My 1972 CL350 struggles to see 70 MPH . but that is OK , I am going to list it forsale soon . TOO many toyz.

First post. Picked up my 2023 Maverick XLT 2.0 L Eco FWD yesterday.
Trying to wade through the manual and figure out what all the electric doodads are, what they are supposed to do and how to turn them on, or off, depending whether they are something I want.
Love the truck.

I had a '68 Honda CL 350 I rebuilt from a wreck in the early '70s. I split the cases a couple times as it tended to eat cam chain followers and deposit the debris at the bottom of the crankcase.
The Haines or Clymer, can't remember which, manual worked mostly ok except for reassembly.
The manual called for placing the upper crankcase, including the crank and shifting forks(heavy !) back down onto the lower case.
As the shifting forks dropped straight down when held like this it was impossible.
After several failed tries at assembly I placed the upper crankcase upside down, placed the transmission shafts onto the shifting forks and bolted the lower crankcase on and moved on with reassembly.
I always wondered if somebody got the translation from Japanese wrong or if somebody was just messing with us ?

I just downloaded the 24 owners manual provided by Ford Chat. I have not had a chance to read though it all at 500+ pages. But the PDF file is broken out into sections making it easy to find what your looking for. Seems well written and easy to follow to me. IMHO

I downloaded and started glancing over it... Seems well put together... I anticipate having my truck mid December... Guess I'm starting to get kind of excited as the Frontier has worn on me lately. Jjust put new Bilstiens at all 4 corners, upper lower balljoints, inner outer tie rod ends, stabelizer bar unions, top bearings, bushings, etc... to take out front end play and noise..worked like a charm, handles like new. I spent a bit of money in the spring painting it and a bit in the fall to rebuild suspension as I didn't expect my Maverick until Spring 2024. LOL.. Shot down to Mexico last weekend and had the engine light come on, airbag light come on, tire pressure warning come on, the A/C system fail again (it was hot still too.. about 95degF), and the windshield took a stone (nice spider crack).

My wife is of the opinion the 18 year old Frontier is definitely wearing on us now... She can tell I loathe driving it... I'm tired of shifting it in traffic (especially in Mexico with all of the topes), tired of the poor mileage and poor performance from the enemic 2.5L, tired of the oil consumption (I have the 2.5 Gen1 engine that was replaced by a Gen2 variant later in the 2006 production run... my truck being an early 2006 has the bum Gen1 engine with the excessive oil consumption issues at highway speeds), the wind noise, the repairs, and am ready for a proper 4 door truck as opposed to the extended cab...

So yeah, we are getting excited about selling both the Frontier and the CRV and embracing the Maverick... so much so I'm already reading the manual already. LOL!

Have to remember Corporate America tries to aim any information given to the public at a 4th grade level.

Americans in general are much more poorly educated than generations prior to the 1990's when it comes to knowledge and critical thinking skills, but they have learned how to take "selfies" and post YouTube and TikTok videos.

I don't think it is just Maverick with poorly written manuals. When we bought our Lexus, in order to sit in the car and read the manual, I took my wife shopping. I read how to work each device and by the time she came out of the store, I was ready to pull my hair out. Everything is common sense, except for the electronics. I was so confused, I blamed myself for being stoopid. A simple thing like pairing my phone was impossible. I gave up trying, And, later it started working the way it is supposed to. So, I am either a genius or a lucky nut job. I do not have my Mav yet, so I don't have the manual and I shudder to think of what my next few days will be like trying to wade through all the electronic jargon. The salesman showed me stuff today straight out of Flash Gordon comics. And he showed it all to me in 30 minutes. Guess how much I remember.
