About 2 months after I received my Maverick, I got rear ended. The body shop got all my parts and started working on it two weeks ago. Once they got into the job, they realized that there was another part that was broken. It's been over 2 weeks, and they still can't get the part. It's not their fault, it's just the world we live in. The bad thing is that my rental car insurance runs out on the 1st of October, so it's either pay for the rental myself, or have no transportation. I know it's a long shot but maybe someone on here has a contact with a local Ford Dealer that might have this part in stock or know where to get one. It's work a try. Here's the part I'm needing. Left Blind Spot Radar NZ6Z14C689A. I was told that a used one wouldn't work. Thanks in advance for your help.

I'm not showing any in the warehouses and no dealers are showing them on my locator. Ford states " SUPPLIER UNABLE TO SHIP TO SERVICE NEAR, TERM DUE TO SOURCING, RESOLUTION IN PROGRESS" With no ETA. Why won't a used one work?

I'm not sure. This is what the man at the collision shop told me. They are local and I've dealt with them several times, so I feel they are correct in what they are saying. My State Farm insurance uses them.

Alright, well I hope you/they can find the part and you can get your ride back. What about putting all together and leaving that part off until they get the replacement? I believe you can turn off the blindspot.

Fix the truck and install when it comes in. It probably goes inside the bumper.

I'm not sure if I'm the one to make that decision. I'm not a mechanic so I'm not sure how much added work that would be, or if there's possibly a safety issue that might prevent them from doing this. Luckily, I just got off the phone with my insurance, and it seems that there is a way to extend my rental car. Waiting for an update.

If you were not at fault here, Then you need to make this insurances problem too. If the other party's insurance wont continue to pay for the rental then you should contact your own and they should be able to help.

IIRC, in most states, the at fault party is required to provide a rental until you get your vehicle back.

Yes, but they will sometimes try to avoid that responsibility too. His insurance will probably have to step up to help him if they aren't cooperating.

In all likelihood, there is no normal scenario for parts aren't available to them and they will try to pawn off the problem on him or the repair shop when it isn't their responsibility.

If you were rear ended, the adverse party who caused your damage (or their insurance company) will be responsible for your rental bill. Possibly the other party is unsinsured and this is coming out of your pocket, in which case you are OOL unless they have deep enough pockets making it possible to sue AND collect. Good luck on that and your parts search.

It looks like Lakeland Ford parts has one. I think a used one would work if it was reprogrammed

Clarify with the body shop if "won't work" means there is a technical issue (I have trouble believing that) or if the insurance company requires installation of new parts only. If it's the latter, that can be resolved by having the insurance company authorize a used replacement.
