$5600 water intrusion on F150 - the video didn't say, so more **speculation** is the vehicle was on a boat ramp and either wake, wave or slid too far into the water. **speculation**
Yes, in the video it was mentioned that the owner was NOT surprised by the amount of water and damage but was only concerned about getting it fixed ASAP sort of like THE WATER WAS NOT A SURPRISE!

I never did before this time either BUT I agree with you 100% on this. I went for the whole enchilada knowing that IF I needed something out of warranty down the road it would be a kings ransom
Opting for the Extended Service Warranty is smart with the ever increasing costs of labor and materials and the fact the Maverick is a new build for Ford. (Yes, I know it's on an Escape platform and Ford has a history of hybrid engines)

Yep for sure. I honestly don't think the junkyards are going to have many Mavericks floating around in 5-10 years from now either. Lol

This is true, I just had to price one side for a customer who didn't replace his taillamp on his 2018 F-150 when he backed in to something and cracked it. It over time, filled with water and corroded the module, bracket , and connectors. However this is primarily because the F-150 has a metal rear bumper therefore the radar module for the side object detection has to be mounted in the taillight( radar signal will not go through the metal), most vehicles have plastic bumpers and the module is behind the bumper. Still, as stated in the video, the taillight alone is not cheap.

$300+ in "locate fees?" What new method of profit extraction is this dealership using that I've not heard of before? IF that is supposed to mean/include freight, that's still stupid expensive unless it was all at overnight shipping, which is just unnecessary. I mean the only things we've shipped that came close to that figure were bumper covers; the modules are nowhere near the size and weight to run that much money.
Yes, some lamps are stupid expensive, and they don't even include the modules -- and I've seen this issue in its early stage before it had done this much damage because of a cracked lens on the customer's vehicle. It's sad, but that's what the automotive world has come to.
And just watch it if you've got some of these devices with sensors and modules which are exposed to the environment -- in rustbelt regions it common for them to be penetrated by wet and develop corrosion in the connectors. Just hope it happens under warranty.

I guess it's one of the good things about some vehicle like the Maverick. We can buy one without all the additional stuff we don't want or need to potentially save ourselves from some of these issues later.
Honestly, if I lived in an area where a rust-free body could be found affordably, I'd have preferred to have bought an older Ranger, S10, or Nissan Hardbody and just invested in something without all the modules, sensors, and other assorted gadgets we were perfectly capable of living without. Sure, they'd not run the same as some of these modern vehicles w/turbos, but I'd not need scan tools or an electrical engineering degree to repair them.

I replaced my tail light on a ‘22 Lariat hybrid. Its held in by two bolts. It pops out, unplugs and installs in the reverse order. The complete lamp cost $319. My lens shattered and I couldn’t find a bare housing to transfer my components to.

Correct, the CP360 sensors on the Maverick aren't mounted in the taillights like the F-150.
Where are they mounted then? I really don't understand how a tailight could be 5,000 bucks even if it contains a module. I would never have bought maverick with a cp360 if that were the case that would be 20% or so of the value of truck

I'm concerned over the emotion the video evoked from me because of the $5000 cost.
You have the cp360 in your maverick?

So you paid 319. So why wasn't yours $5,000. What am I missing. I don't understand.

Flood Ford also has great price on ESP. It seems to show a lower price than Granger Ford. unless it gives discount after purchase is completed. You do Flood Ford right online. When I get my Maverick I will show finance that Granger sells $50 over cost. Although I doubt they will match. My dealership seems to think MTC reports a lot of bogus info. I knew things that my salesman didn't know by being on this site. Anyone else compare Flood Ford with Granger ?
If I buy the esp, do I have to continue to pay for it even if I sell the truck?
Do think that tail light with the compents as listed in the video was $5000. Thats about 20% or so of the truck. I don't get it.

If the tailight goes out like in the video above, isn't the 3 year warranty going to pay for it since it was electrical?

What is meant "bare housing"? How did the lens shatter. It was just because of heat or cold was it?

Yep. That's why minor fender benders are totaling Mavericks. Also why I broke with a long-running custom and actually bought the ESP.
Since electronics are within 3 year warranty. why didn't the guy who got the work done in the video have it paid by the 3 year warranty? was it because the guy needing the repair was responsible for the breaking of the taillight?

Would the 3 year warranty have covered the electronics in the taillight be covered if the taillight
just shattered because of heat? But i guess it wouldn't have shattered because of heat.

Behind the sides of the rear bumper. The $5600+ in that video is both taillights (which on that model/trim are fully LED and have a computer module separate from the radar), both radar modules, rear harness, labor + diag, and fees to find all the items in stock.

It's a 2018 F-150, not a Maverick.

You only pay for it once. And if you sell the truck you can get a prorated refund or transfer to the next owner for a nominal fee.
