Gas pedal to the floor at all times until you have to stop.

Then slam on the brakes as hard as you can and hope you don't hit anything.

Works wonders.
People don’t bother with the stopping here. If it’s red you’re dead. They not only run the light they don’t even slow down.

Drove a 23 hybrid and it didn’t have grappy brake problem like my 22 has, less now after software update. Didn’t keep it long enough to experience a deep sleep.
Had issue with computer resetting and sensor malfunction so gave back to dealer.
Still experiencing deep sleep issue, same dealer replaced 12v battery under warranty for my 22.

I'm approaching a whole month of newbie ownership of my '23, have not seen any deep sleep message (yet), but did take the precaution of purchasing a NOCO jump pack, which now lives in the back underseat storage.

I've had two instances of "grabby" brakes at very low speed, once at the top of my own driveway, just as I was about to fully stop, and another time pulling into someone else's driveway, just as I got into the actual turn at low speed. Nothing since. I'm keeping an eye on that, but since it has yet to repeat, I'm not particularly worried. Both instances were within the first week, btw.
Same, I have a NOCO in my back seat storage

I did experience grabby brakes in my ‘22 and started more slow braking. I have yet to experience that issue in my ‘23.

I never experienced deep sleep in either vehicle but after reading a recent thread I even lock my doors in the garage which does seem to help the battery.

My truck doesn’t sit idle long enough to experience what others have experienced. With almost 2k miles/mo she’s an active member of the family!

Good evening all!

Many of you have seen my prior post on finding my new Maverick that I'm getting next week. I'll try to be brief here:

Sudden unexpected braking with the hybrid when coming to a stop.

Deep sleep mode.

Would really appreciate any opinions as to these two issues that I've seen multiple times while browsing through this site and how to react and/or deal with them in the most efficient manner.

Mine is a 2023. Should I have any concerns? Anything else I should be mindful of being a first time hybrid vehicle owner?

All comments are welcomed and appreciated!
I've had my 2023 Maverick for 2 months, no braking issues.

This is exactly the kinf of advice I'm looking for. I'm not too woried about myself...just don't my wife getting all uptight driving it and thinking something is wrong when there really IS no problem. Thank you for your comment!
About the only time I get the regen braking is when I am exiting the garage and I brake to be sure the door is all the way down. It will grab every so often when I am doing that, but not always. Very seldom have I seen it occur outside that spot.

Lmao! That is exactly how I got my birth name Darren...my parents loved Bewitched and thought it was a unique first name. I get a few family members and even a couple of older customers calling me Derwood too!

Hi there, Ted. This deep sleep concern doesn’t sound like something we want you to experience with your Maverick. Could you please send us a PM with your VIN and the name and location of your Ford dealer? To send a private message, just click on our username and select "Start Conversation". I'd be happy to look into how I can assist you on my end.

The change over from Regen to Normal Braking can occasionally be felt, usually more noticeable or common with the engine cold, or if it happens to be shutting down or starting up as you come to that final stop. - Otherwise quite smooth, depending upon driving style. It did take me some time to get used to the brake pedal not having a lot of movement compared to my prior vehicle. (My Mav grabs higher in the pedal travel than many other vehicles, however, you become accustomed to it...strong brakes by the way).

My only issue is the 'deep sleep' over the past maybe 10 days. I just turned off the wifi & auto updates, as I recall turning them on maybe a month ago. Will also reset the battery monitoring, maybe tonight, and see if that helps. - I have 14.4v when running, so it is certainly sending voltage to the battery to charge it.

If either of those doesn't fix it, I'll bring it up to the dealer my brother works at for testing....my guess is maybe a 'so-so' 12v battery, which several have needed replacing. So far, no deep sleep since turning off wifi & location. I'd like location back on to allow Ford-Pass to have full functionality, and will most likely turn that part back on, and leave wifi off, unless I'm checking for an update.

The regen braking will take a little getting used to. This is normal. In 5 months I've had no issues, like you I was worried at first but I think the problems have been corrected.
I get my new Hybrid tomorrow can't wait! Won't be sleeping much tonight lol!

I have a 22 and 23 XLT HYBRID. MY 22 had the brake problem after two times at the dealer it's not a 100% but a lot better 👍. It has never had the deep sleep mode. My 23 does not have either problem . My opinion just relax and enjoy a fantastic little truck I bet in time you will love it just like ten of thousands other Maverick owners.👻👍😊

Aye, I thought you already had it. We’ve had ours for almost a year. The brakes take a bit to get used to, our first hybrid. No deep sleep issues. I got into the fuel conservation mode the first month or so until my wife complained that I drove like an old man.. ok then I’ll drive it like I stole it. No more complaints except slow down 😂
