Here is the procedure from the Ford workshop manual, if you can handle transport mode for a little while it will also self-deactivate at about 125 miles on the odometer lol :

NOTE: After vehicle build, some vehicle modules are set in Transport mode including the IPC and the BCM . Transport mode reduces battery drain during longer periods where the vehicle is not used. While in transport mode, the IPC displays TRANSPORT MODE CONTACT DEALER in the message center. Various systems may be altered or are disabled when in the transport mode. The vehicle automatically reverts to normal operation mode after being driven 201 km (125 mi). The vehicle can be manually taken out of Transport mode using this procedure.

  1. Place the ignition in the OFF position.
  2. Verify the battery is fully charged.
Refer to: Battery Charging (414-01 Battery, Mounting and Cables, General Procedures).
  3. Place the ignition in the ON position.
  4. NOTE: Steps 4 and 5 must be carried out within 10 seconds.
Press and release the brake pedal 5 times.
  5. NOTE: The IPC message center indicates NORMAL MODE when the procedure has been successfully completed.
Press and release the hazard switch 4 times (2 hazard activations).
  6. Start the engine.
  7. Place the ignition in the OFF position.
  8. Verify the RKE works correctly.
NOTE : although steps 4 and 5 are listed separately, I typically do them simultaneously and it will come out of transport mode

It might take more than 5 brake pumps.

Mine went back into transport mode at the dealer the day I picked it up. It was normal when I first got inside the truck. Waiting for my turn with the finance guy, as I checked out my new Maverick the transport mode popped up on the, as best I recall, the dash screen not the center screen.

My sales gal happened by and got in the driver’s seat. She vigorously and rapidly pumped the brakes at least 50 times. Hasn’t happened again since then.

Also, congratulations on your new Maverick!

Correct me if I’m wrong, but it seems to me that “transport mode” would be a good way to leave the truck if it was going to sit for 6 months.
If so, then how does one get the truck INTO transport mode?

One way to do it is to "CONTACT DEALER "
Why? When you can GET ON THE INTERNET and fix it yourself in minutes without having to go to the dealership.

You are kind of late to the party anyways... party pooper.

I would rather "CHEW ON GLASS"
I would have to agree. I also avoid the dealers. A dealer here has a "Fast Lane"
for tires, oil changes, inspections, ETC. I once went for an inspection and was told that it would take 45 minutes. 2 Hours later........................

You know I had to ask here and now it is showing up on the internet…

Transport Mode
Turn key to 'on' position.
Wait for chimes to stop.
Depress brake pedal 5 times.
Turn four-way flashers on 5 times.
Horn will honk when out of transport mode.

If I got you correctly, that’s to get OUT of transport mode.

Again…….Seems to be a good idea to store dormant for 6 months or so.
