For those of us living in remote signal areas as well as traveling in rural areas I find the Maverick radio and infotainment feature worthless.
Has anyone tried hooking up a CD player to the USB port to listen to music or audio books for long distance driving or just a run to the other side of nowhere? interested in make and model of unit. Thx

USB with music doesn't work that way, unfortunately. The system reads the file contents and plays and indexes the individual files.

CD players with uSB are for computers to use as a device with drivers. The Maverick does not interface that way.

Your best bet would be to get an FM transmitter with 3.5mm audio plug input and run the headphone/audio output of the cd player into the input of the transmitter, which will then transmit the music on an FM channel that you tune the radio to. (Apparently, there are some that use Bluetooth instead of FM radio).

Edit: some links for ideas.

I use a portable Cd player that I bought on amazon for 65 dollars.Works great, I plug it into the usb port. I do have the upgraded B and O radio not sure if that makes a difference.

Well slap my a$$ and call me sally. It does read the generic plug'n'play USB devices, although a bit quirkily. I've never heard of such a thing on a vehicle OEM USB plug. Learn something new every day!

I just bought the Hott C105 portable CD player on Amazon for $72. It has a built-in FM transmitter as well as Bluetooth. I connect via the FM transmitter and it works pretty well. I also live in the sticks, so not too many choices unless you're a big country music fan. The sound quality is so-so with the factory speakers. I've adjusted the audio as best I can, but it's not like my old Alpine with the Phase Linear speakers I used to have. I basically turned the trebile, mid and bass to max and chose the driver only audio setting. Scorpions World Wide Live sounds pretty good at max volume 😃

i cant comment on CD player compatibility as i havnt tried that yet. if u own a PC maybe you could 'rip' your CD's to a USB stick? but any music stored on your phone or on a USB thumb drive may be played by plugging into the under dash USB port with a cable or wireless dongle. this should work without any cell coverage quite well.

If you aren’t afraid of subscriptions why not something like Spotify premium? You can download the music so it’ll always play even when offline

Typical wise guy Vermonter response Butch!

Is your truck built yet? Mine is shipped heading to LMF!
LOL, built on July 29 and according to chat sitting in the hot Mexican desert collecting dust for two weeks now in pre-shipping status.

Congrats on getting that Mav shipped. (y) What is your expected delivery date? Chat tells me it is between August 29 - September 3 but finding that hard to believe at this point. :ROFLMAO:

I don't understand why nobody likes CDs anymore. It's so simple. No downloading this and storing it on that, paying for services and pairing devices. Just insert the CD and press play. What could be easier?

Just recently ordered my Mav, but once I get it will be using a USB thumb drive as a music source. Here’s what is working for me in my current rig.

Kingston Digital 128GB Data Traveler Micro Duo USB 3C Flash Drive (DTDUO3C/128GB) https://a.co/d/expzfxl

What are CD's??
sigh, i feel so old sometimes. i've seen 8 tracks ; CB radios ; cassette players ; and now CD players all go the way of the dinosaurs. i eagerly look forward to the next 'new thing' so long as they keep the regular AM/FM radios standard :)
