This is only for 2023 models. The 2022 didn't have the Nav included in the Sync
Ah, didn't realize it wasn't even an option on the 2022. I wasn't really shopping the 2022. I thought the Sync 3 package was the same between the years.

This is for all the '23 Lariat owners out there.

One of the changes from the '22 to the '23 was the addition of Sync 3 navigation. I don't know why, but I haven't heard anyone discuss it just yet.

If you have a '23 Lariat, have you used the Navigation feature yet?
It's supposed to to be voice-activated as well. Does it work as advertised?

If so, I'd love to hear your comments, thoughts, etc.
I have a 2023 Lariat Maverick with the Nav System. So far so good works as advertised so far. I have also used the Apple play navigation too all works. So far I’m a happy camper. Truck is only 6 months old and all is going fine.

I use it a lot, everyday. Leaves a lot to be desired. No manual input address when it doesn’t understand the voice command. Not updated. Compared to my Garmin 7 series doesn’t have many features. Home Screen loses ETA. . Getting ready to just switch over to iPhone with maps or Waze.

Huh? 24MY Maverick still only gets Sync 3 (and thus navigation) on Lariat, per the order guide.

I have MY23 Lariat with Lux package so it came with Sync3 Navigation. It really is so-so as far as navigation systems go. The navigation features are quite basic too and doesn't really offer alternative routes and route updates. Comparing to my previous vehicle's navigation (Jeep), I do prefer Sync3's address entry. But, I am disappointed that a brand new navigation's map data is quite out of date - there are roads and highways in my area that's completely missing from it! That's why I generally use Apple CarPlay and love my Waze.

Also, I wish it at least had the feature I had with my Jeep - to send destination addresses ahead of time to the vehicle's navigation system from the app or from your online account so that you don't have to type in addresses while in the car. I also save myself frustration by not using the voice feature, except to make phone calls.

But, I do think it's good to have the factory navigation in case you are driving through an area where the cell reception is poor or non-existent. To me, it's just a back-up system.

I think you mean '24- All Lariats w/navigation

Sync3/navigation not on XL or XLT..at least according to the '24 Ordering Guide and all other available information.

I have had Ford Nav on many of my past Ford vehicles. It was bad in the past and it is still bad.
- It still has not updated highway exit numbers that were changed 5 years ago.
- It can't pull up many common retail locations when using voice "Find a POI".
- The locations of many POI pins are off by miles.
- The routes it designs are bizarre.

"On board" navigation is great because it would completely end my need to connect my phone by USB cord to use Google Maps but unfortunately "On Board" Ford Nav does not even come close to Google Maps.

I am glad to have it. Wanted to get away from a suction cup Garmin ( and other stuff stuck here and there) with the new Maverick.
I knew what to expect and that is about what I got. Very nice to have the voice command, especially for local stuff. I don't intend to plug my phone in every time I get in. For road trips, I will experiment, looking forward to trying Waze for instance.
Really happy with the sound system. Much better than expected.

I don't always have the address so I use Android Auto using the wireless dongle. Can't see why I would use it unless I had no cell coverage or did not have my phone with me. Google does a good job of figuring out restaurants, stores, and other points of interest.
FYI you can use Google Maps offline when you download Maps.
Click on your Icon(top right) and click Offline maps.

I'm cheapish as all hell so for me it is all about free map upgrades and offline map downloads so its Google maps for me.

Our only other experience with on board NAV came with our Sonata and map upgrades were $150 a pop and already outdated by the time you got it. Never going down that path again.

I was curious to know if it also displays turn-by-turn directions in the Instrument cluster, similar to this:

Our Bronco has that so I suspect this feature might be tied to Sync4a infotainment.

It's been a little while since I navigated with it but I believe it actually shows in that panel using Google Maps nav also, not just factory integrated. Either way, not too important since Mavericks definitely don't have this feature.

I'll keep the split-screen maps up to spot street name, which helps in areas you don't always go to. It also provides the speed limit for the road on the map screen, as well as 5 years of SiriusXM Traffic, when using it for navigation. - It nicely re-routed us in June around some congested roads automatically, due to an accident. For an OEM Navigation, it isn't bad, and no cable to the phone required. It also does, as shown above, provides turn info on the instrument panel, as well as the media screen.

Full disclosure, I have an AA to AA-Wireless adapter from Prime-Day (<$40), but haven't yet installed it. Apparently, its possible to select which Navigation (OEM or Phone) you want Sync3 to use. I already have the Ford+Alexa, and use that to control streaming music, so haven't been pressed to install the wireless adapter.
