My A.R.E. Fusion tonneau cover has never leaked and I check it every time. It cost a bit over $1170.00 including the professional installation and had matching Area 51 color. I recommend A.R.E.

So I recently discovered my tonneau cover lets in water
and wanted to add some pictures - it seems like everyone agrees SOME water can be let in
and its not 100% waterproof - but how much water is too much?

these pictures were taken after a recent rainfall or going through car wash (the puddle of soap)

I recently reached out the the company I purchased from and they installed it as well - asking if they can do free adjustments or if this is covered under their 3 year warranty

the tonneau cover is a 3 piece hard folding type and was $1200 canadian

on the website it states:

So - how much water is too much? Am I expecting too much from this cover and the statement provided?

Does anyone else have pictures of their tonneau leaking? is it the same? worse? not as much water?

I don't get near that much when I go through a car wash. I have the Truxcedo Sentry hard roll-up tonneau cover. Just a tiny bit by cab & tailgate.

Your install didn’t seal up all the gaps. I have a Backflip and hardly any water, even with heavy down pours. Get some Alien Tape and hit the gaps.

is your truck parked on flat ground?
thats way more than normal

mine only leaks, if my truck is parked at an angle (downwards), mine leaks from the tailgate IF the truck is parked down angled (front pointing down hill).

That’s what I get with my sentry ct hard rollup. It occurs mostly during car washing.

Question? Did you install it yourself? The reason I ask, if I buy one outside of Ford and have it installed by a thrird party, I would have them run a water test.

OP,

Make certain the weatherstripping is present between the bed and the front of the cover.

It's helpful to loosen the clamps and push down on the rails when tightening.

If you believe there's water getting in at the (2) seams of the truck's upper plastic protector (toward the front of the bed on each side) that the cover's rails bolt to, a small dab of black silicone may help there.

My Bakflip hard cover (like Ford's) allows a little water in, but not to your extent.

Good luck....

.

Wow, that’s bad.
My Ford Tri-fold only lets
IMG_0290.webp
in a very small amount of water near the upper tailgate seam. Every thing else is bone dry, not a speck of water anywhere else. Only happens after the automated car wash, driving/ sitting in the rain leaves even less moisture.

Not sure if you can even see the water in these pics.

What cover do you have?

Yes I have a Weathertech hard trifold and so far I have not had any leak problems. I do not take my truck through a car wash; I have been through some heavy rains and wind.

Here's my Truck2go tonneau cover. Very little leak, just a little upfront on the right & left side & very little by the plug inverter. The rest of the moisture was from the tonneau cover sliding back when I opened it. Very happy with the tonneau cover

I have a cheap rollup cover that doesn't leak that badly.
Same here, the Ford soft rollup.

I'd check install and see if any of the above recommendations would help seal up any gaps.
