Since September, I have had an XL hybrid on order. Absolute crickets since then.
Last week I watched one of those live Long McArthur videos on YouTube. I heard some stats about the orders. Something about 30% XLT capacity but only 25% XLT orders vs the 15% XL capacity with 32% orders. I sent Tom an email asking if he would recommend switching from XL to XLT at this point. He simply said "yes" in his response. Its a few thousand more dollars, but it seems like XLTs are being built while XLs, the bulk of the yet unscheduled, are not. I'd happily pay a few grand more to have this thing, and the upgrades included aren't bad either. So, I called up my dealer and had them change my '23 order from a bare-bones hybrid XL to a bare-bones hybrid XLT.
This morning, I woke up to the wonderful surprise of the scheduling email.
Was this due to the recent increase in capacity for hybrids? Was this due to the COVP removing a few thousand orders from the order bank? Was this due to Ford increasing retail order production? Was this due to my priority code being changed from 15 to 14 when I switched to XLT? Was this because Ford favors more profitable orders, and XLT makes them more $ than XL?
Like everything with this entire mysterious and god-awful process, who the F knows. All I know is that the math appeared to be more favorable for XLT than XL, and after 9 months of nothing, my order was scheduled within a week of the switch to XLT. No clue if the XL would have been scheduled had I not switched.
Anyone else have a similar experience? Thoughts from anyone more knowledgeable than I on the subject?
