Better buy now.

I predict that the 2026 Maverick Hybrid XL will start at the low entry price of $29995, plus destination of course. 😉

I just checked my xl hybrid build price and it is now 27,500 from the 22k I paid for mine (2023 w private offer). Comparing to other hybrids on the market it is still a good deal w the price increase. You get a nicely loaded truck for the price w the xl cp360. Of course my definition of loaded is subjective but it’s a really nice feel and people are impressed at the truck. I did some appearance mods. Hub caps, bed cover, door sill mods, bed cover, tailgate lettering, all weather mats, bed power, added bed cubbies. At what I paid it beats any vehicle on the market. At the new price it beats any hybrid on the market. Still a good deal imo.

Technology has improved, costs have come down, volume has gone up (but only as far as Ford planned for it to, not enough to fill demand at 2020-22 Escape and 2022-23 Maverick pricing). After $6843 federal tax credit and incentives, you could've gotten at least a 2022 Escape SEL PHEV for around $36k
I did exactly this at the beginning of the year, and it was fully loaded (ACC, tech package, pano roof, etc) at $5000 under MSRP. Came in under my ‘23 Maverick order price, and locked in the 0% interest rate.

I was one of the potential first time truck buyers Ford wanted, so for me the Escape is definitely a better vehicle. If they can get a similar electric range out of the Maverick whenever they make a Mav PHEV it could be a solid option.

Based on the order system crashing again today, I’d so no.

We got our 22 Lariat Lux with premium wheels , loaded with everything but moon roof. It was 31,600.00 after 1500 dealer loyalty discount.. It would be about 40k today to order.. crazy. The 13 month wait was excruciating.. Happy campers now.

I bought a 2023 XLT w Lux pkg last week after someone backed out of an order and that exact same truck in 2024 is $3500+ more... I'm super glad I bought the 2023 last week :) But agree with what others are saying that my truck in 2024 (Hybrid XLT, Hot Pepper Red, Lux pkg, tonneau cover) is still a good deal at $32770 in the 2024 market now... That may change if dealers still keep accumulating other vehicles besides Mavericks and have to discount the heck out of them to sell them in 2024...

Pretty predictable. They're in business to make money. I feel really lucky to have my 2022 Hybrid at the original price--that was an insane, extraordinary value. Going to pickup my 2023 Mav Hybrid #2 for the family in a couple days after a 10 month wait. Still a great deal albeit ~2K more. But not ordering a 2024: still a good value relative to what the competition has (nothing) but no longer a "no brainer can't lose $$ gotta have" purchase. Will definitely weed out some speculators and folks that don't really need one.

So, with the MY24 Maverick build and price now available online, I played around a bit this morning and came to this conclusion: a decently equipped Maverick will now set you back $35,000-$37,000, on average.

Now, I realize my definition of "decently equipped" is subjective. For the purposes of this discussion, I am tossing out bare bones XL builds and the Lariat trim completely. Rather, I am focused on the XLT -- widely considered to be the "sweet spot" for the Maverick.

For 2024, to get an XLT with the luxury package (meets my definition of "decently equipped" compared to many other trucks and SUVs on the market) and EITHER the Tremor off-road package, FX4 Off-Road Package, Black Appearance Package or 4K Towing Package, the truck now sits in the $35,000-$37,000 range. You can play with the build and price tool all you want, but the way Ford has done things for 2024 means you can no longer get FX4 without 4K, you can no longer get BAP without XLT Lux, you can no longer get the Tremor package without CP 360, etc.

Basically, they've configured the builds to force you to potentially take a package you don't want to get one you do. Certainly makes sense from a profitability standpoint, and probably will also help Ford meet demand going forward, as I no longer see the Maverick as a highly compelling option at these prices. I personally would not be interested in a "base" XL, nor would I ever consider going to $40K for a Lariat Lux.

Anyway, I am SUPER GLAD I have my 2022 XLT FX4 LUX (still with only 5,500 miles) and I got it for under $32K and 1.9% financing. I guess I have been around this group long enough to be the grumpy old man of Maverick Truck Club, but the glory days for the Maverick may be coming to an end from a value standpoint.
2022 was the golden age for value. My Hybrid XLT with 360 was about $25,000 and is all i need. Throw in the 1.9 % rate and I will never get a deal that good again in my life time.

The 2002 Honda Accord I bought used with 110k miles was bought in 2001 for $19,940. Minus the terrible auto transmissions, the 6th gen Accords are absolutely bulletproof.

In late 2021 when I bought my Maverick, that would have been around $31,000.

For $4000 more, I got:

1. AWD that's insanely capable, especially when paired with real all terrain tires. The trucklet has impressed Jeep bros and even a guy in an F-150 Raptor.
2. 100 HP more and a turbo, so it's insanely fun to drive in the mountains with good power.
3. Infotainment
4. Significantly safer design, more airbags
5. A 4.5' bed
6. Moonroof
7. Built in inverter
8. And...the same rated mileage on a truck that's 700 pounds more than the Accord. Is that bonkers or what?

From what I remember from microeconomics class, the optimal price is the one where Ford sells exactly what it can produce without excess inventory (until more capacity is created) and they are a for-profit company. It's pretty clear that since inception the price has been low as they had more orders than capacity so I was reasonable and expected to raise the price (not saying I like it as a consumer). My guess is that this year's price tweak would have shifted the demand model pretty close to being right on target, if not for all the rollover orders. With those in play and the new ones, there will likely still be unfilled orders.
Econ 101 (engineering economics as I remember it from my days at the U of A; class of 68). Spot on Sir!! LOL

My '22 Lariat hybrid is $4495 cheaper than the same build for 2024. I have 2100 miles on it, being retired, don't need to drive it much. It arrived at the dealer exactly one year from ordering it, so it's only 9 months old as of now. Just thankful to be enjoying my truck!

Maybe except look at the inflated pricing on other 24 trucks. 😳 I bought a 22 Fx4 with all weather floor mats as an option and paid less than $29,000. Add $4,000 (possible price increase ??) to that and I probably would have walked. I think it might slow sales some but not too much.

It was a screaming good deal when it first came out, and the last.

The events following that debut assured that there will never be a buyers market again.

People seem to think that the Maverick is the only vehicle thats price has risen.

Every vehicle for sale in 2024 will have a higher msrp.
Seen the price lower on anything, food, rent, lately?

I’d say just be glad you got one, or, hopefully, are scheduled to get one, at any price.
Add to that used vehicle prices. In 22 I sold my 16 NISSAN Frontier 4x4 with 30,000 miles to my cousin for 24,000. A year before that I would have been lucky to get 14,000. This was a very big part of my decision to get a 22 Maverick. Oh and by the way, he re-sold it for 26,000 6 months later! Those days are long gone.
