Hello I purchased a remote antenna extension for my remote start. The Ford instructions only state to connect up wire to the “VSS”? This is very vague and I can’t find this VSS module. Any pictures of where it’s located would be great. TIA

From what I am seeing the Maverick does not use a VSS, the security system is incorporated in to the BCM(body control module). What part number is this antenna you have and who sold it to you? I am thinking it may be an antenna that is used for the dealer installed add-on remote start systems. If you can message me the part number( and your vin would help too) I will look it up when I am at work(dealership) for you tomorrow.

That extended antenna is for the perimeter alarm. So you either had to order it or you had to buy it. That module is plug and Play and it connects directly to the OBD. The extended antenna connectes to the back of this module

Here's a video of the perimeter alarm. At 2 minutes 30 seconds You can see the back of the module. If I'm not mistaken the end of the extended antenna kit connects to the whiteish receiver in the back of the picture. If you have not used your Ford pass points you can use that to buy the perimeter alarm for almost no cost.

Thanks so it appears I need to buy the perimeter alarm system and that will be where I hook up the remote extender antenna. Will this affect my already installed factory start remote at all? TIA

Stick your head under the steering column with a flash light. Should be installed to the back of the odb port.

What you need is KN1Z-19A361-A. The antenna your wanting to install only extends the range of the single button FOB that is another add on. The part number for that is JS7Z-15K601-C. It installs very easily behind your OBD2 port. It will not affect your factory remote start.

NO> This is an extended range antenna for the dealer installed accessory VSS/RMST system which is listed as :
FORD PERIMETER PLUS VEHICLE SECURITY SYSTEM
on the Ford accessory sight and is Part No: KN1Z19A361A . If you read the description for this Security system it states :
When activated by your Ford Dealer, the Basic Remote Start System is also included; start your vehicle from up to 300' away
the antenna you have been sold will extend this accessory's range to up to 2500 feet as listed in it's description. BUT* You have a Lariat, so why would you think you needed to buy an antenna to increase range in the first place? I believe you can start your truck with FordPass app from pretty much anywhere as long as you have phone service.

Hi, my work place is in middle of country & cell signal there is terrible so that’s why I wanted to try the extended range antenna for $39
So I thought of the Ford Pass app but will probably work everywhere but at work

thanks

Yah that make sense. So, in a nutshell, there are 3 ways to remote start your truck that are available through Ford, 1) being a Lariat you did chose the factory remote start option, 2) The FordPass app, 3) a dealer installed security system which comes with a jumper wire that plugs in to the VSS module to turn on the remote start system through the VSS module. And that is the module where you would plug that antenna you have in to.

You do not need that fob to turn in the car, you can use the factory key. See the video

Go to your OBD port, behind it, are there 2 sets of cables, one leading somewhere and another to a black box?
