I just do a thumbs up. Probably only seen 7 or so since I got mine in Sept. 2021. Guess I don't get out that much?? 
I still am surprised when I see one. I always give a little wave, I got a wave back ONCE.
There are 3 in my community I see occasionally. Once in awhile I see a different one or 2 passing through. I will still wave even if I don't get a response. I am an enthusiast and genuinely excite about these little trucks.

I ordered my 2023 XL hybrid (hitch mount & Copilot 360) sight-unseen thru a dealership in Katy TX (west Houston sprawl) where my brother had purchased his last couple of high end Ford trucks. My order went in on 20 Sep 2022 & has yet to be scheduled for production. Meanwhile, here in the Corpus Christi area (2 1/2 hours SE of Katy) I've seen ONE Maverick in the wild, on the far side of a parking lot I passed en route to an appointment. Later, it was gone. So I'm jonezin for a vehicle I've NEVER SEEN in person/up close...
