Proves couple of things. One is that I am a safe driver, yippeee! The other is that Ford still collects all of the information about how I drive, despite disabling the data collection and disconnecting the telemetry module.

Oh, if you don't believe that I am a safe driver, read the content of the email, quote:

No surprise. Big Brother in most every of life knows and sees what we do, where we go, etc. I wouldn't be shocked one day to receive one regarding how many times I have been to Home Depot, WalMart, certain gas stations, etc. Welcome to 2023.

As I believe the Op is aware this letter is no more than likely just a flyer and not based on his past driving statistics. He even mentioned disabling data collection. Just another solicitation with possible monitoring in the future. Wonder what all the double asterisks ** say in the footnotes.....

If you sign up and your driving is bad, how high can the insurance go???

i got the same thing a while back. used it to take $750 off my 23 maverick. maverick was NOT excluded on mine though.

Nah, you will not receive that kind of notification ever, but everybody else will... for a fee of course. that's called residual income... for Ford...

Mine is bluetooth and just uses a phone app. To be fair to State Farm, I get a massive discount due to the limited miles I actually drive working from home on top of my more purposeful driving style.

That's not entirely true...

With the "telemetry on wheels" there's no choice; weather one likes it or not data collection is ongoing. With the OBDII dongle and/or apps for smartphone, that's voluntary. The apps is even worse since in addition to collecting data related to driving, if that is all it'll collect, the app is likely spying on the smartphone as well.

I am not OK with involuntary data collection and certainly will not volunteer for it for sure. Chances are that the insurance companies already have some level of access to the the involuntary data collected by car manufacturers, if nothing else some sort of rating levels generated by car manufacturers. In the near future this access will be expended further, if not already. It's conceivably cheaper for insurance companies to purchase data access, than messing around with ODBII based monitoring. It's all about profits and residual income for car companies is hard to resist.

Hey, @Montana, could you send me some tin-foil hats? Just use the "big balloon" shipping method, I have plenty of time for getting it...

I'm hurt. Other than the Dear Jane letters up until I got scheduled, I've never received a single email offer or snail mail flyer from Ford, though I KNOW for a fact they have both correct in their system. I'm hurt, Ford, hurt I tell you. Why are you rejecting me like this?!?!
