Nice trip. Were you on a deadline? I do a lot of traveling but always try to sit down to eat, take a break, and stretch my legs so they do not cramp. I always stop at a truck stop, as most of them have clean bathrooms.

That's one helluva road trip! Nice to hear it held up to everything you've thrown at it.

I made a quick trip from northern Indiana where I live out to McMinnville, Oregon and back... 2.270 miles each way. The destination was the Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum. I left Tuesday morning at 9am EDT and returned home one week later on Tuesday at 6:45pm EDT. I averaged 31.8 mpg driving 73-83mph. Mileage numbers were confirmed on the way out, which showed that the trip computer is highly accurate.

Maverick Evergreen 1.webp

The driving portion was less than 48 hours out, and less than 48 hours coming back, so I actually covered 4,540 miles in a little under 4 days total. Stopping is stripped down to as little as possible to fuel up and use a real toilet instead of a bottle like I do most of the trip. I sleep for 4 hours laying down in the back seat, and then get rolling again. I do all the eating while moving. I also had the bed of the truck full of gear for some video work, including 120 pounds of sand bags for light stands.

My AWD XLT 2.0 Ecoboost with 4K towing didn't miss a beat the entire trip. This is the most intense road trip I've done, but I have done trips to Reno before like this when I had an Chevy HHR Panel. The HHR always did really well, and was oddly comfortable for long distances, but Maverick was perfectly comfortable, even better than the HHR was... the Maverick is truly the best overall vehicle I've ever had. And I'm 62, I've had quite a few cars/trucks over the years.

What I'm trying to say is that I love my Maverick even more at 30,000 miles than I did when I first got it new!
I have a friend who in his younger days worked as an independent contractor in Rochester NY but still lived in New Mexico. He often drove straight through back and forth, around 1800 miles one way. When he got older, he said he couldn’t do it any more, and, in fact he realized that he could never do it.

That's awesome man, our maverick is 8 months old with 2,300 miles on it. I have some serious catching up to do 😂.
Might have you beat 🧐 depending how you look at it. Had mine since May 4th 2022, 2,777 miles to date. Must be the color 😉.

Dang you got us beat! We picked up our Tremor in Granger IA at noon Monday, then MN, WI, IL, MO, AR, LA, and finally made it McAllen TX by dinner Friday. Right around 2150 miles. Gonna head out west so San Diego tomorrow gotta be there next Sunday night so we are doing all the 4 corners states. Probably another 2000 mi.

Great story. I hit 76 three months ago and no longer do such things. I spent 30 years on the road doing Quality Control work in multiple states and remember those days of 800-900 miles day after day, so you can have them. I will take my short trips and let you young guys have them. Great looking planes in all the replies and a lot of talk about the HHR. Never did get one of them Health and Human Resources vehicles. Used to think welfare gave them to you LOL.

I wouldn't have thought I could pull this trip off as easily as I did, especially at 62, but it was like a mission to me, and that changes everything. Plus, the Maverick is just the right vehicle for such a trip.

You gotta stop stopping to keep up with me!

And here's my bug collection after pulling into the drive at home. It had been about 2,000 miles since the last rain that had washed them off. I grabbed the hose and a sponge first thing and cleaned them off... the Maverick had earned some love : )

My longest day on this trip was 1,296 miles, but it was all part of a mission for me, so it was fairly easy to push myself beyond reason.

And my wife used to call my HHR Panel a Hillbilly Hot Rod : )

Last time I didn't stop was back in 02. I drove a 84 Econoline straight on from Dayton OH to San Diego CA. I did get some dinner and stretch my legs for a couple hours at a Walmart in OKC. Took me 49 hours to get to the beach. No map no nothing.

Just sharing - I ceramic coat every vehicle I have, greatly helps. Do many long road trips out west and solved the bug, tiny gavel and sand wear on the front paint. Road sand and bugs can do a job on the front paint surface.

3M clear covering tape or look-a-likes on Amazon, are very very cheap (6 inch x 54 inch roll = $6.90) and very easy to do a "rough" install on only the front area exposed to bugs and sand, since I know it's coming off in a month. I hate the permanent look of the 3M covering...so prior to long trips I 3M tape off the front paint surfaces (not black trim) and when I get home, it only takes minutes to peel off the 3M tape.

(Btw, admin, I HATE it when you move a relevant post like this to a section that gets little attention. If I wanted it in TRIPS I would have put it there. It's not about the trip, it's about how great of a roadtrip vehicle the Maverick is)

We've done LA to Santa Cruz, CA twice for roller derby tournaments. 700 miles round trip. 2 teens in the back. Super smelly skating gear in the truck bed safely away from cabin air. Such a great road trip vehicle!!! Full tank for each leg. Hybrid XLT mostly 80 on the freeway. Powered over the Grapevine. 150 miles left in the tank when we arrive home.:love::love:

Did 2550 miles from Myrtle Beach to Fort Worth and back in 4 days with my 23 hybrid. Less than $200 for gas, (about 40 + average) I-20 all the way. Very comfortable and quiet. No problems, love sxm app
