Man, I wish there was less drama. Reddit is a better style forum where there's a sub for everything and I love that about it. But with that comes the money in advertising and the want for more. Luckily my VPN blocks out ads so it's not an issue but I suspect reddit will change. Hopefully for the better but no one knows

I think of it from the opposite perspective. The whole "upvote/downvote" nature of Reddit just discourages heterodoxy, so many spaces end up becoming politicized echo chambers more or less. Stopped using the site years ago.

I think there are uses for some subreddits focused on specific topics, like Ford Maverick, but if it's anything remotely political? Forget about it.

could be true with Reddit being self moderating and with all the resulting divergent personalities but here its the developers making sections go private (dark)

I'll be the dissenting voice -- I enjoy Reddit thoroughly, particularly the sub dedicated to my hometown, it's a phenomenal source for local information. The Reddit Mav thread is like MTC Lite, not nearly as much participation, occasionally some great photos, but same song second verse kinda' thing. For Mav news and updates, I'm MTC fangirl.
