Can anyone comment on the reputation of rollups (either soft or hard) having questionable rain-proofing? The guys I've talked to seem to say roll-ups tend to leak water into the bed. Anyone have first-hand experience with this?
I'd love to know a little more about that too before I decide whether I should change my existing order to one of the fold-up versions instead. I have read some good things about various hard roll-up covers but I've never had one myself so I have no first-hand knowledge or experience.

I like the hard fold because with straps and a hitch mount I can carry cargo on top.

Yes my hard top keeps MOST of the water out. But the seal near the tailgate isn’t 100% perfect. So typically I’ll get some water there.

Appreciate that video. As this will be my first truck, I have zero experience with bed covers. Have you also had experience with soft trifold or hard trifold covers? Do you still prefer the roll-up covers over those? Thx in advance.

My neighbor went from a soft cover to hard after her tonneau was knifed and someone stole her toolbox.

I'm hoping that there are tie down eyelet holes in the undercarriage below the bed fore and aft of each wheel. It's something a crap 1970s Datsun (yes Datsun) Pickup had.

We have had, Soft cover, soft tri fold, hard trifold, clam shell, box, and hard roll up. I prefer the Hard roll up.

Second would be the hard tri fold. Because the hard trifold can hold more on the cover and it’s more water proof. And you can remove the whole thing easily. But it takes up more room when folded. And they break easily.

My old truck was bought by a co worker and it’s hard rl up came with it (2007) still works like new.

Really appreciate that additional info - extremely helpful. I have been waffling between the Lariat (with hard roll-up) I have ordered and the First Edition (which "only" has the soft trifold).

I considered getting an OEM cover but I think I'm going to wait for Diamondback truck covers to release something for the Maverick.

I've had a soft tonneau for quite a few years and have never had any water leaking through to the bed whether via rain or hosing it down. The OEM soft tonneau on Maverick looks to be same quality if not better than my Truxedo.

Also played around with the Maverick's tri-fold. It's much faster + easier to fold up than the soft-fold, but takes up more space when stowed since 1/3rd of it is still laying flat, vs ~6" of the soft-fold when rolled up. That being said, however, the tri-fold is super easy to just unlatch and toss in the side of the bed or in the cab if you have something really large that will take up the whole bed. I love my soft-fold but the tri-fold does feel like the best of both worlds.

The Berliner that is sprayed in is done at the factory, unsure about drop in. Call your Salesmanager and inquire, when I visited dealer to go over order he said all accessories are shipped to dealer for installation. The items I inquired about were the locking latch , mud flaps, roll up and fold up cover and mats. I was interested to know when another forum member said his order would be held up because he ordered mud flaps as to why if it is dealer installed.
What is a locking latch? I thought it was the thing to keep people from taking the tailgate, I ordered it ($40) I think, dealer said when they put in the order it isn't actually available. If it's for the tailgate, I've seen them online. Is it indeed for the tailgate?

The dealer told us it was advised to purchase this item as people and groups steal tailgates. In the F150 theft of tailgates is a costly problem and as this is a new introduction parts for replacement could prove to be difficult to locate so an$40 lock could be cheap insurance.

I doubt the Maverick is going to get much traction in the chop shop market. That's a Big Truck thing.

Cops will let you do that?
Why not? If you had on a bed cap or were towing a trailer you'd have no rear visibility out the rear window. That's when you use your rear mirrors. Not aware of any laws that would prohibit this.
