I think the glossy black letters look great! But then I an a little biased. I also have glossy black letters on my carbonized grey Lariat. I debated between chrome, matte black, and glossy black letters, Sooo glad I went with the glossy black. I like them better every time I look at them. As you stated, they really do enhance the tailgate and the carbonized grey metallic paint.
