Does the XLT keypad plug into the XL door frame. Or, does Ford parts sell a keypad that is compatible. Has any XL owner added an external drivers door keypad ? Was it plugged or spliced ?

I believe that they sell at Ford parts.

What you are looking for is the Ford Keyless Entry Keypad KB3Z-14A626-A. It has an adhesive back and no wiring harness connector. It’s basically a wireless keyfob with a keypad. And I beleive you may need to have the dealership program it to your vehicle.

Correct. The XL doesn’t have the provisions for the wired window frame keypad. The XL can use the adhesive, wireless keypad. Unfortunately, the programming requires dealership assistance and cost as much as the key pad andreally makes it not worth It. I wish someone here on the forum can show us how to access the programming process becasue all the current means to do so are not applicable to the Maverick.

So - it's wired on the XLT?

If you use the adhesive keypad, it has to be replaced when the battery dies. You can't replace the battery.

Even with regular use, it last 8 years before replacement, but yes. This is why the XLT and Lariat use the wired version.

Maybe this guy could figure out programming the wireless keypad. Shouldn’t be much different than the key fob.

I’m not sure he has a solution because it cost him money to gain software access to these newer vehicles. I would rather give him my money than the dealership, but you’re right, David is a great resource and locksmith! Go watch his YouTube channel, he is funny as hell!

Have seen many posts of very good fabrication/ drilling. If the XLT keypad required drilling, then the next question is ; can it be plugged or spliced into the door lock? The XLT keypad gets power from the door. And only unlocks the drivers door?

Ok so I have tried to do exactly this. I'm quite aware that it should be programmed similarly to a key fob, however it doesn't work that way. I've been to Ford and pushed back when they said it can't be done this way, even though it's a Ford part and says the application is correct. So that led me to a well qualified locksmith. He agrees with my theory and that it can be done as long as the locksmith has the Maverick software in their programs. So here it is a year and change later and it's still not programmed to my Mav. If anyone knows a way to this, please post it.

I don’t think it’s a “drilling [holes]” thing, it’s more a replace the entire door window frame panel to accommodate the keypad panel and some wiring that I’m not sure directly connects to the lock wiring or goes to the ECU for some digital handshaking.
