Recommended Ford Maverick Hybrid Dash Cam Question/Issue!

I'm not sure if I call it a fun project When using the plastic prying tools I would use lots of duck or blue tape to cover the area where the plastic prying touches....the plastic trim really scratches easily.

Let me know if you have any questions about how I routed the wires removing the trim pieces. Also, I mounted the rear camera on the top drivers side corner. You could place it in the center but I wanted the wires completely hidden....with a rear sliding window it didn't allow me to really hide the wire the way I wanted it.

I appreciate the information in your post. Your humorous comment made me smile. I will utilize your tip about protecting the trim with tape. I do not want to scratch any of the trim in this project.

I powered mine (Vantrue E1 2.5k) with a custom harness inline with the factory collision camera. Easy peasy, took less than 5 minutes to install

so you all don't think the cig lighter plug shut off after killing the engine? i haven't experienced battery drain with it plugged in.

It seems a good option for a temporary power source to me. I am glad that it does not run down the 12 volt battery.

Hear a small clip from my dash cam. When I start up the truck up it announces it will start the continuous recording. It also recorded the audio inside of the car with the video. I did purchase the GPS for the dash cam but for some reason it's not using it.

One thing about the dash cam I hate is when I want to connect to it with my iPhone I have to go the the setting and manually select the ThinkWare WiFi. The app isn't as robust as I would like it to be. I have to be in the car if I wanted to use the app or even download any video.

If I had to do it again I would look at other dash cams that has a better app.

The video is crisp and clear. I like that. The wide view angle is what I hoped it would be. Thank you for posting it here. I have already received the system and cannot return it without paying the 25% restocking fee and pay for shipping it back. I bought it at a discounted price to begin with from a Ford dealership online website. Your information about connecting my iPhone to the camera system is very helpful. My brother has not ordered his dash cam yet and these posts will help him make a better decision.

By the way, I do like that dashcam. I bought it at Best Buy and had them install it.

I ended up getting it hard-wired at a custom shop. BestBuy wouldn't do it without the OBD and at the time, the OBD connector wasn't compatible with hybrids. (Local Ford dealer paid for the installation by the way.) Thinkware does now make an OBD connector compatible with hybrids. But anyhow, to date not an issue at all. It works great in all the ways it's supposed to. I haven't had any deep sleep issues. I'm happy with the results.

Thank you so much for the information. I decided to order the Rove R3 Dash Cam and hope I can use an OBD power adapter instead of having it hard wired or plugging into the cigarette lighter port. I'm trying to research that now and fingers crossed, I don't mess up.

The Garmin OBD power device works perfectly in my Hybrid (and my other cars)..... It also is switch selectable to shut down 10 minutes after key off, 30 minutes, and constant on...
