Hi, just looking for any info from people that either placed an order for a Maverick through Sheehy Ford in Richmond, VA or bought a Maverick off the lot from them.

My background- placed an order for a MY 23 Maverick XLT Hybrid in Sept 22, in March received a build date for the week of May 8. And now I’m just curious what kind of experience others have had with Sheehy when they picked up their Maverick.

Did they try to add on a market adjustment fee or other ā€œdealer feesā€ that aren’t necessary?
Did they give you a short timeframe to pick up your truck or else they would sell it out from under you (like another person on this forum recently posted about)?

A couple things I’m going to ask my salesman, Kevin Lowery, to do-
1. Don’t put any dealership sticker on the tailgate (but I can live with a license plate surround with their name on it)
2. Don’t install the front license plate bracket (I don’t want holes drilled in the bumper)
3. Give me a quote to install a trailer hitch receiver

I was the 55th order that Sheehy placed in Sept 22, if any of the other people that ordered with them are on here, I’m curious to learn if your Maverick has been built or is scheduled to be built and how your delivery experience with them was.

I wouldn't be surprised if they insist on the front license plate mount, since it's VA state law.

I’m going to put a front plate on, but will either do the zip tie thing as shown in another post here or buy the Platypus mount. I just don’t want them to drill holes in my new truck.

Bring zip ties with you and put the bracket on quickly in case they’re concerned about being legal.
I think they HAVE TO install a plate in front, if it’s the law in your state.

You can always ā€œadjustā€ it when you’re a block away, or when you get home.

If they put the sticker on (my dealer did after I asked them not to. I think it’s automatic when the porter gets the car ready. I sincerely believe they just forgot to tell him) they can easily peel it off. They removed it right in front of me.
Now….. once they drill those holes in the bumper……

Hadn’t thought of that. I’ll bring some zip ties just in case. I emailed my salesman today and will see what his response is to the front plate question.

And if they do put a dealer sticker on it, I’ll just peel it off when I get home.

I ordered my MY22 from Sheehy of Richmond, I thought they did a great job. They didn't add anything to my buyers order and I actually drove away 2k cheaper (although I did add the extended warranty) then the MSRP by using my X-plan and a coupon I happened to get in the mail a week prior to them receiving it. I ordered mine 1/18/22 and took the keys 4/30/22. Anytime since I've reached out for info they have been great.

Make sure you get there either the day they recieve the truck or before it goes through prep and let your salesman know what you dont want. If you're going to get an extended warranty (which I only did because I put 50k a year) make sure you understand everything you get and actually make them write it on the papers before they scan to the usb. I'm not sure if theres a timeframe, I was eager to get my Maverick so I didn't give them more then 24 hrs with it lol.

Best of luck!

My salesman at Sheehy replied to my email today, basically asking the same stuff I put in the original post.

He estimates it will take approximately 3 weeks to arrive from the factory once its built, which is supposed to be the week of May 8th.

I asked how long I had to pick it up (thinking about someone on this forum waiting a week+ and the dealer selling it out from under him), and was told I could pick it up the day it arrives on the transport truck, but I could wait up to a week if I need. That ain’t happening, I’ll be there right after work the day it arrives.

As to not putting a dealer sticker on the tailgate, he said no problem.

As to not mounting the front license plate holder, again he said ā€œNo problem, we won’t put it onā€.

The last thing I asked was for a quote to install a trailer hitch. He said ā€œabout $895ā€. So thats just another thing I’ll be buying somewhere else or doing myself.

Thanks to all that replied here.

Here in NJ more than half the teslas I see have no front plate. I don't need an excuse to get pulled over.

Greetings fellow RVAer! You’ll find lots on the forum about aftermarket hitches. Ford didn’t make it easy with the hitch install… quite labor intensive. Whichever path you take, a bit of research to know what to expect is recommended.

Yeah, I watched a how-to video last night about installing the hitch and a 4-pin wiring harness. Its gonna take a lot longer than I was expecting. I’m more carpenter than mechanic but I think I can do it myself, its just gonna take an entire day and require me to do it laying on my garage floor. Also can’t believe its a $100 option when factory installed and a $500-900 cost when doing it myself or paying someone else to do it.

I’m more of a ā€œget halfway in and realize I’ve screwed myselfā€ guy. 😁

I think there is a part now, but at least at one point wiring it up wiring without impacting any aspect of warranty was also an issue. Again, lots of conversations in the forum cover it well.

Agreed on the shock over the price difference! The cost over a typical body on frame install is eye-watering. In that light, $100 is a relative steal if one can stomach the potential constraint delay.

I don’t run front plates on two of my cars and have never had an issue. Maybe because I’m not too far from WV and cars without front plates are more common.
