Hi All
Our '23 XLT Hybrid Maverick has finally arrived @Granger . Initial order placed 11/5/21 - at the time, prediction was for a July/Aug delivery & summer road trip to pick up. (we all know that didn't happen) Finally got a build date of Dec '22, I thought great, pick it up during February break - LOL - CANCELED. Finally (again?) got built 1/16/23 now as a '23 , with Ford estimating delivery to dealer Feb 13-26th - dealer gave 45 day estimated arrival last week & not to make any pickup plans, it may be delayed... LOL = Maverick arrived at dealer exactly when Ford said it would - Feb 13th LMAO - Now after all this...we have 30days to pick it up = another LOL

So close to a year and a half of ups and downs - we are left with 30 days to get it out of there...problem is Feb / March is worst possible time for us to pickup. So, looking for options.

Flying is a problem, our German shepherd recently started having seizures, so we we need someone with her 24/7.

Which leaves us two options;
1. Have it shipped
2. Store at a local Self-Store until first week of April & then drive out with Class B from NY to get it.
Looks like there are a number of options for 10x20 storage units as well as gated outdoor parking spots.
Has anyone done this?

Shipping option gets the job done, but no road trip🤠 - would like to see the Midwest/Badlands/ Mt Rushmore.

If you store it that long, it may go in to sleep mode or worse

I see you are saying "we". So, I guess one person could fly out then drive back. One could stay with the dog.

I purchased a car for my son a couple of years ago in brunswick Ga and had it shipped to San diego California, It was with an independent shipper, fully insured and licensed. It cost me $1300.00 dollars. My ford Dealership here in Brunswick helped me with the arrangements and didn't charge me anything.

LOL - I hope not - the storage place is right up the street from dealer though. I would imagine there's a sleep mode that it can be put in - my van has deep sleep and a start battery disconnect

The next time that will happen is April, when we both have time off.
Now thru March is the problem - worst time for Maverick to come.

- shipping is an option, but would rather do the road trip. Could leave the Mav in storage and pick it up on way back. Its going to be years before I make it out to SD again. Life's short

I shipped mine from granger down here to FL. Cost me $1100, process was very easy and no damage or any other shenanigans happened to my maverick. I believed the company I used was easy auto ship

Store it and take your road trip, especially if storage is near dealer. After such a long wait, what is another 5-6 weeks. Why pass up an opportunity to see beautiful country. You only live once. God alone knows what calendar Ford uses. I think they mix up pages from calendars dated years ago just to have fun with customers. There are so many acronyms for FORD, but here is another one for you guys who waited so long - Finally Order Reaches Dealer. Enjoy your trip and your Maverick.

too bad we can't arrange a swap, my Granger XLT hybrid hasn't been scheduled yet and likely won't arrive before April/May. Meanwhile, we also ordered a Bronco Sport and that is supposed to be built next week. So maybe end of March delivery for it? Or April? With two of them to deal with, we were planning on shipping them both together. But the Mav likely won't be available.

Ship it is by far your best option you really don’t want to store a hybrid and run down the battery you will have a huge headache in your hands.

I'm not overly concerned about the actual ~30 day storage of the vehicle - can always disconnect the battery - but more so the logistics of getting the deal signed sealed delivered and into the storage unit.

From the '22 manual:

You live in Nebraska, an adjacent state! Just drive over on a Saturday and get it. How bad can it be?!!

Have you asked the Granger folks if they could keep it on their lot an extra two weeks until you can get out there with your Class B and take your road trip?
You could complete the paperwork ahead of time as most out of state buyers do.

An additional complication with storing it could be sales tax and registration so be sure to look into that. There could be some sort of time limit to get it out of state without paying those. I don't have clue how that would work. There could also be car insurance issues with storing it like that so be sure to ask about that too.
