I flashed the Cobb Stage 1 Sport TCM earlier today. It’s snowing here now and I don’t feel like ending up in a ditch. Just around town it feels lighter revving, spool seems to be quicker and gradually increases boost. Shifts are much smoother than the 5star tune I was running. It feels like this tune is better at deciphering what your foot is doing with the throttle.
If nothing else happens (which it won't) besides the shift points smoothing out with the TCM tunes, it's worth the money. The OEM transmission and programmed module around shift definitions is awful.

This is the first auto transmission I’ve owned, but it did seem like stock and 5stars tune would either read the throttle as 100% or 0%. What I mean by that is that I would get on it a bit and if I let off even just a tad, the truck would shift up OR I would be cruising and give it a little throttle and it would hesitate to shift down. So far, it feels much better.

I had an Accessport on my focus ST, loved it! Sold the Focus St and got a Fiesta ST put a Accessport on before the car was even broke in, I did get a custom tune for my Fiesta that I use most of the time, it’s almost like night and day between my custom tune and stock. I would love to get one for my FX4 Mav but am a little worried about the Transmission, I am trying to talk myself out of buying one.
For both cars I used it on I got more power and better gas mileage as well!

my MPG on the Fiesta went from 28.5 to 32.5, I drive it fairly hard, because it’s so much fun!
Someone please talk me out of getting one LOL 😂

What plugs are you running?

Stock plugs for now. I’ll do some logging when we get some better temps. -4 last night. On the plus side, even below freezing it feels like it’s running great.

not sure if there's something else to consider, but every turbocharged vehicle I've had feels very strong in cold weather because the intercooler works quite a bit better.

Received and installed
Only took a quick ride so far, but it feels very smooth and pulls hard

mine came also, but it’s so cold and icy here I’m just going to wait.

out of curiosity, how does the tune effect drive modes like slippery etc?

Looking forward to the results of all these companies tuning for us. I have 5 star, and everyday driving shifts are jerky.

Howdy folks! We're going to make our own thread to highlight some of the features of the Accessport and our development process, but we wanted to hop in here and answer a few questions that have popped up first. We appreciate everyone's excitement and business! First week sales have been greater than expected and we're all very excited for the future of this platform.

I'm interested in this

"This version of the Accessport includes the capability to flash the TCM which is the unit that controls the transmission. It includes various Off The Shelf transmission tunes which adjust shift points, shift firmness, skip shift behavior, and torque limits to fit your preferred driving style."

I was not aware of any other tunes to the TCU, would love a review noting the shifting differences between this and stock.
Our marketing material is a little confusing for this - unlike other automatic transmission equipped EcoBoost Fords that we support like the Gen2 Raptor and Gen2 F150 3.5 that use separate modules for the engine and transmission (ECU+TCM), the Maverick uses a single module to control both the engine and transmission. The OTS maps that come with the Accessport have multiple versions/combinations of engine tunes and transmission tunes. Stage1 87 OCT, Stage1 91 OCT, and Stage1 93 OCT maps all come in three different transmission tune versions:

1. Simulated Stock TCM - except for torque limits and a few necessary calibration changes needed for the 8F35 to be happy holding the extra power/torque, this is a factory transmission tune.

2. COBB OEM+ TCM - slightly modified upshift schedules to hold lower gears for longer, more responsive downshifts, slightly quicker shifts, and the removal of backout upshift inhibit. Drives like it should have from the factory!

3. COBB Sport TCM - more aggressive upshift schedules, more responsive downshifts, modified torque converter operation for greater powertrain response, quicker shifts, and removal of backout upshift inhibit. This is definitely my favorite transmission tune of the three - still nets great fuel economy, but feels way more intuitive from behind the wheel. I daily the Stage1 93/COBB Sport TCM tune on my personal Maverick.

COBB OEM+ and COBB Sport also turn this 8-speed into a 7-speed! 2nd gear is so close in ratio to 3rd that it really isn't worthwhile in any driving condition to use, especially with the extra torque. The factory transmission tune nearly never uses 2nd anyways - almost feels wrong for Ford to call it an 8-speed!

I had an AP on my Focus ST initially, the tune that came on it dramatically changed the power and driving characteristics of the car. I eventually wound up getting a custom tune put on it from Bren tuning but the COBB standard tune was fantastic and widely considered to be safe for the engine. Only reason I am not pursuing more power on the Maverick is because of my concerns with the 8F35 transmission.
Thanks for your business on the Focus platform! So far so good with the 8F35. We've accumulated 10's of thousands of miles between the company Maverick, my personal Maverick, and remote tester vehicles with our tunes. There were some initial transmission calibration changes that were necessary to keep the 1-3 and 3-4 shifts happy with the extra power and torque, which is why I think it is extremely important to use a performance tune like ours that can modify transmission behavior. Ford's control strategy is pretty neat - there are a handful of speed sensors within the transmission that allow you to measure and monitor clutch element slip at anytime. Generally speaking, clutch slip is the first sign that a conventional automatic is beyond its torque capacity. Even after literally 100+ hard launches, 100's of dyno pulls, dozens of 0-60 runs, and generally getting beat on everyday, these transmissions have yet to skip a beat. There is a torque limit present while brake boosting/vehicle is stationary that will prevent boost from building above ~3psi. We're currently working on some solutions to modify this to cut a faster 60 ft., but will be doing so with an eye out for reliability. We'll try to find the limit on our development vehicles before we ship that solution to the public. The best 60' we've cut is in the high 2.0's, but I think with a nice 10-12psi launch that 1.8's are possible.
