Lift kit for the Maverick Tremor?

I have a Tremor package, I was stuck halfway in a ditch on a drift. Used to driving in the snow in Wisconsin where we don't have 3ft snow drifts like Wyoming haha. The snow was to the frame of the truck on one side, I was trying to pass a semi and Durango stuck in the right lane taking up some of the left lane. The semi already had called a tow truck, but believe me when I say I spent that entire time waiting trying to get un-stuck haha.

Could you have gotten out with a shovel ? Does a recovery board work in snow drifts ? Not the expert on that- Just got my set last week.

Most likely could have. The drift ended about 5 feet a head of where I was stuck. The recovery board would have come in handy just to get out of the ditch. Was just out of options as soon as the tow truck got me out of the ditch I was able to keep driving. Still a little sore about paying $150 for a tow but luckily insurance covered it.

If you check the reviews of the Tremor you'll hear from some that they don't feel a lift kit is necessary and might off-balance the truck. I'd proceed with caution. I believe Ford engineers designed the Tremor to be the best it could be as far as suspension/engine/power train/ and the onboard computer was designed to handle different road conditions based on what they designed. In my experience, when one start tinkering with these elements, there's going to be a drawback somewhere, especially with today's automobiles.

If the goal is how it looks, people can do what they like. No jacked up vehicle becomes more stable.

I would be interested in getting another inch lift and I think it would be fine, mostly for additional ground clearance since the skids aren't protecting much.

But I don't want that inch via a spacer - I'd prefer a solution that provided additional suspension travel but that sounds unlikely.

Yeah if you are way up there get the 2.25" lift and fit the biggest tires you can. After that get one of those lil army fold em up shovels. No joke I dug semi out of a ditch in a ice storm with one of them. Granted only his steer tires were stuck and the ditch was small. But still stick a shovel and and a good handsaw under the back seat and you can dig out of anything and saw up branches for traction aids or bridging. Been there done that, and dont go anywhere without em.

I agree. People can do what they want. And you're right, a jacked up vehicle is less stable due to center of gravity changed.

I was only ever in the scouts, but the one thing I stick to still is "be prepared". Most days I have 200 ft of 11,000lb line, 2-20ft straps, a hilift, a come-along, a battery powered chainsaw, shackles, tool set, and a Deluxe full-sized shovel. But thats really just my work Bronco/or Comanche.

But yeah no time like the present to "dig" out that shovel. Thick overly aggressive floor mats are good in the snow too.

I replaced my carpet floor mats with nice all weather ones and had the carpet ones underneath the back seats until right before this trip. I took them out to make more room haha. I wasn't gonna use my nice all weather ones. But I'm kicking myself in the butt for sure normally I'm a lot more prepared but I just received the truck and decided to do a 2,000 mile total trip to visit a friend. Didn't have room for anything else after packing in all my outdoor/shooting gear into the back seats and under them. I really need a camper shell.

Ohh I get ya, we are gonna put a shell on ours too. Probably a ranch mid rise with racks.
I got the makings of a joke to tell about that story for ya. It goes something like "i brought all that gear but couldnt shoot my way out of that dang snow drift" or some such more accurate and quipy depiction. I always like good failures as lessons. One night in a snow storm, I went night sledding and busted my hip real bad flying through the air about 15ft distance and landing on another ramp, after limping to my van, I let the cold do its work and numb the pain. Then drove home but saw a stranded motorist. in between a ramp and the highway. It was all thick snow on ice. I had my big 4x4 van, but no strap, since I just finished customizing the interior and cleaning it out. All I had was a dang extension cord which did not pull their car. So all I had was my little shovel and a bad hip. So I spent a half hour digging them a path and pushing their car. By the time I got home I couldnt move my leg and crawled into my house. It was 4 or 5 different colors of reds and blues. I missed 4 days of work because of that night. 2 things I will never do again, Drive a 4x4 without a strap and go night sledding on a damn saucer sled!

I plan on running an all-terrain 235/80/17’s with the only lift available that I know of for the TREMOR by Fordrangerlifts they’re actually 31.8’s. I figure I may have to do minor trimming even though I’m staying stock width.
I changed my mind and am gonna go with the Cooper disco AT3 (32”)255/75R17” since FORDRANGERLIFTS.COM says I can with minor trimming. Plus they r
lighter weight than the LT’s above & have a higher tread wear warranty/rating.

The main reason I want a lift is to have bigger tires, and more ground clearance. Last week I got stuck in the snow for the first time in my life just driving back roads in Wyoming to avoid an interstate closure. Granted I had zero recovery gear so it was all my fault. I just felt like the truck should have been able to get out of it. It always felt like it was right about to get out of it. So naturally I blame the trucks capabilities and not the idiot driving it haha.

Maybe better tires rather than bigger? I'm no expert when it comes to tires and snaw (SoCal guy), but perhaps you don't need to go full Monty.
