Softtopper has developed a soft topper with a metal frame. Also a add-on tent extension. Projected Feb availability- $990 for topper, $229 for tent extension.

Flated looks to be a bit nicer, certainly to store, but significantly more expensive (50%?). But the tent extension looks great and may fit other toppers.
I see a couple of advantages to the Flated topper over the Softopper.
  1. Storage - The Flated topper stores in a backpack when deflated and could be stored in the truck when not in use. The Softopper says it stores flat, but I would imagine it would still take more storage space than the Flated topper, since it has rigid metal bars.
  2. The Flated topper is strong enough that you haul/storage things on top of it, like a luggage rack. "The Air-Topper™ comes with 4 tie down D-rings for securing your boards, kayak, or whatever else needs to be tied down to the roof." I don't think you can do that with the Softopper.

Stop I just received a pre-order email from softopper that their cover can be pre-ordered for $949. I'm curious if there's been any progress from flated on the maverick topper.

Hey Guys/ Gals.

So sorry for the delay in updates. We honestly have been slammed. Our last sample didnt fit between the weird little angles next the cab again. But have a new sample being air freighted now. I know it seems like we are dropping the ball. But we learned last year that its not a good thing to bring in a size that doesn't fit.

I hope to have a photo to share with you all next week, and our factory is ready to go into production the minute I approve the sample. Fingers crossed that this is the one.

Did you go with the top level with the cab or proud of the cab's roof level?

@FLATED Guy Glad to hear an update. Do you have a ballpark on what the pricing is going to be? Did you decide to go with the roof level or slightly raised version?

I have one of each to test. Anyone on this forum from Missoula, MT?

It would be cool to have one that converts the Maverick bed into a sleeping size tent with the tailgate down!
That's the only way I'd consider it.

@FLATED Guy I imagine they are costly to ship. But if you can't find anyone local to test it, I'll be a beta tester. I live in central TX.

Long awaited photos... We got the fit down, just a few details that we are working out for the back window fitting, the front bed seal, and some cosmetic details inside and out. But we are confident that we will be going into production this month. I have two people highway testing them now.

We are hoping that the Cab High version can come in around $1000 and the taller version around $1200. The Cab high weighs about 29 LBS, and the Taller one 33LBS.

Would love to hear what you all like more... The Cab high or the Taller version? Hope the moderators are ok with this post, as its really only to answer all the questions you have all been asking us for way to long now.

The Cab high version is made in a different way, so not quite the same land rating, but as you can see still plenty supportive to haul Kayaks/ Surfboards/ Paddleboard.

This is the Taller version below. This was not strapped down, so the gaps on the rail will suck up.
