Well, I did some research a while back but didn't post it -- just been too busy, I guess. So, I remember a day back in 1974 when myself, my brother, and father all bought a new Chevy at the local dealership. Dad got a Caprice, I got a Blazer, and my brother got a Vett. I remember that Vette as being such a dog for speed. I was wondering what the HP was back then compared to the Maverick. Well, here's what I found for what's said to be "America's Sports Car":

For the first 40 years (1953 -1983), the Corvette produced eleven (11) stock models with less horsepower than the Hybrid Maveric's 191 HP. Additionally, the 1955 and 1979 had just four (4) more HP.

As for the EcoBoost, only eight (8) Corvettes in the same time period had more horsepower than the 250 HP stock Eco Maverick.

Then there are high 11 sec NA Mustangs, Camaros and Challengers that you can drive off of the showroom brand new today. All new vehicle performance has shifted, quite a large amount.

True, but they all cost 2 or 3 times as much as a Maverick use double the fuel & are worthless for hauling, towing or driving in rain/snow type weather. For a 25K small truck, it's performance is better than average. I smile every time I put my clog down.

Actually, the fuel economy is not that much different. My EB sits on 24-25, my LS2 GTO was always over 20. Now the hybrid is much better but no rocket ship. Can’t make a case for one truck with turbo power that gets hybrid mileage. Have to pick, one or the other.

So far my EB's COMBINED mpg over the last 4500 miles has been 31, it's dropping a little now that the temperature is in the single digits, today the high was -4*, not too pleasant.

Well if your the type who likes creating road drama instead of pulling over letting faster cars pass, hopefully someone rear-ends you hard enough to roll you down a cliff, Id be pointing & laughing as you get to enjoy a well deserved vacation with a physical rehabilitation therapist.

Nope I was doing her a favor. That road is dangerous at posted speed. The nature of the road doesn’t allow anyone to move out of lane in any direction. Deep drop off of over 15 feet on its left side. No where to pull off to right due to road height differences with possible damage to cars unside on exit and blown tire if you try to cut back onto road. The road caused a bad drainage problems and they fix it by elevating the road base. She didn’t pass me because she couldn’t safely see on coming traffic can only be seen as it reached the top of the ridge or after they pass sharp 90 degree turn leading up to the base of the series of ridges going along a river and its bridge.
For safety reasons the entire part of the road for 10miles leading up the fun curves and hills is no pass zone. Parts of Texas is famous for its flash floods. This is where rain gets concentrated by rows of long ridges that drop off all at once to the left of this road. The near by part of I 10 has made the national news because of the many mile wide rivers flooding I 10 that sometimes occur due to this natural arrangement.
