Windshield wiper de-icer -- electric or hot air?

Can anyone explain how the wiper de-icer option functions. Is it hot air, electric ???

It is electric, there are a couple grids on the bottom of the windshield where the blades rest.

Is this a lux package option? Or were they standard on a base lariat?

On our XLT it was part of the Lux package on the Lariat it looks like it is also part of the Lux package according to the build and price page.

Does anyone know how it turns on or does it just turn on automatically when the defrost is in use? I tried searching in the manual but I couldn't find anything regarding the deicer but maybe I was looking in the wrong place.

It is part of the lux package, it turns on when you hit the defrost button for the mirrors.

Thanks, . . I went to my dealer and asked about it and they said that's an option on Lincolns, not on Ford. I have a '22 Mav. XLT Lux. Pckge. and here on the Mav truck club it says my Mav should have it. Whose on first?

I have a '22 XLT Lux pckg. Mav. I went to my dealer and asked how to turn on the windshield wiper heaters. They looked at me like I was from another planet. The one guy said, " that option is only available on Lincoln vehicles". So I shrugged my shoulders and left the dealership dismayed. However there it is in black & white at the bottom of the list of 'LUX PACKAGE' benefits. So I guess I'm not so crazy after all.
