About the only thing other than mpg that has been a problem with my 2012 Chevy Colorado is the blind spot. The headrests do not come off. The first day I get my Maverick, in 2028, I will be removing three headrests.
lets hope you don't get rear ended real bad. head rests save necks

How about keeping in the right lane except to pass. Then you'll be far enough ahead after passing to see when it's clear to return to the right lane. ( You can't tell I'm a disgruntled truck driver can you?) But seriously, take your time and turn your head to see if you need to. (And remember trucks can't look out the back window to see you so give them some room!)

There are signs on TX highways, that no one seems to comprehend, explicitly stating that left is for passing only.
In Germany, the traffic will blow you up if you hang out on the left autobahn lanes for like 4 seconds.

Yep. Your mirrors won't ever change that fact.
Proper mirrors adjusted correctly will NEVER require you to turn your head beyond looking at the mirror. If you have to turn your head completely past your mirror field of view, you either don't trust yourself, or you're not set up correctly.

As I mentioned earlier, with the addition of a 3" frog eye in each outer lower corner of the mirrors, I've never had a vehicle that couldn't be adjusted correctly to avoid the need to turn your head beyond the mirror.

Taking your eyes away from your front field of view for even the few seconds it takes to look past your mirrors is an unnecessary risk, especially traveling at highway speeds of 60+ MPH.

Really interesting post. I was pleasantly surprised by how good the Maverick visibility is - I expected way worse going from my single cab to a crew cab. I especially noticed how great the visibility is on the left. I'm guessing we're using different seat heights and locations.

I also got CP360 and it's great to have that blind spot indicator.
Indeed, it is great to have the blind spot indicator. This should be standard on all vehicles sold in North America.

Would someone give a link to the mirror which displays the blind spot? This type of mirror came standard on my 2016 Ford Cmax Hybrid. For me it has prevented an accident more than once.

You should always do a "shoulder check" when changing lanes no matter how well you think you've set up your mirrors. I'm not talking yank your head around to look behind you. A shoulder check just means a 90 degree turn of the head to look for vehicles that either might not be in your mirrors or that are changing from another lane into the one you want to go to. Shoulder checks are in all driver training instruction.

That's how driving works... Trust, but verify. Assume there's always someone coming at you that you missed, thus double check, and then check again.

I lived over there almost 4 years. It was soooo so very very irritating to return to where people don't care behind the wheel. I felt safer tailgating and being tailgated at 90mph than I do in the USA at 60mph.

Looks like we'll agree to disagree on this one.

A 90 degree head turn will not reveal anything proper mirrors would not.

As long as people are at least LOOKING, by whatever method, it's a good thing. I see idiots on the freeway daily that have no regard for any safety or respect for other drivers. It's a miracle the carnage isn't way worse.

Yes it will.

Go watch the video I linked. There is a point where a vehicle passes properly set mirrors, and is visible outside your side window but not the mirror. This is a sub second to 1 second check, not rubbernecking.

If you only rely on BLISS, mirrors, or peripheral vision, that is dangerous. I also doubt you head stays locked straight ahead 100% of the time when driving.

You must hate driving if your eyes are 100% of the time always locked to the windshield, I can't imagine long drives like that.

There is not a driving instructor alive that would agree with you. Tons of accidents are caused by people failing to look before changing lanes. I may not be as old or have and many miles logged as some of the members on here, but I have driven hundreds of thousands of miles, including ones I was paid for, and including ones in emergency vehicles which I had to get certified on ( and there are no shortage of mirrors on a firetruck )

I'm glad you're passionate about it, you're probably a courteous safe driver.

You're also over reacting to make a point, but I think you probably understand mine just the same.

Stay safe out there, however you prefer to do it.
