I just picked up my Maverick and got service protection plans through my local dealer. Later while researching the various conditions and all, I came across mentions of Flood Ford and Granger and their offerings, which were considerably lower than what I paid (about $4k lower total).

I went back and spoke with my sales guy to see if he would price match and he was confused, went to his system and showed me what the lowest he could offer was, which was still considerably higher than the two above mentioned offerings. He told me that he contacted the number on the Flood Ford website and wound up getting connected to Ford Corporate, who were unaware of the offerings by Flood and Granger and only offered that sometimes places show cheaper pricing to try and get you to buy.

I'm a little dubious on that explanation give that I was able to go all the way to the point of inputting my payment details to purchase protection and maintenance plans. Does anybody here have experience with purchasing protection and maintenance plans through Flood or Granger, including what they paid (vs what is shown on the site) and how it's worked for them?

I've still got 28 days left to cancel my current coverage contracts, and obviously if my current guys can't match the $4k discount and Flood/Granger are legit then I'm going to wind up going that route.

I bought a 5 year/75k mile premium plan through Granger, 100 deductible for 655. I thought it was very fair. It shows up on my "ford pass". Even though it runs side by side with some of the factory warranty, it will cover much more after the 3 yr/36k factory warranty.

Hate to break it to you, but the dealer lied.

Warranties are one thing that almost every retailer marks up by an absurd amount. Dealers are no exception. And they'll lie that they're giving you a "great deal", or they can't go any lower. They could if they wanted to, but then you'd tell other customers this and they wouldn't be able to pull the con on others.

Flood Ford, Ziegler Ford, Granger Ford, and others have built their reputations in selling legit Ford Protect ESP products at a small markup - typically $50-100 over their cost. These are Ford dealers just like yours. The difference is that instead of marking them up by thousands and selling a few, they'll use the power of the Internet to sell many of them.

No matter where you buy an ESP from, it's valid at any and all Ford dealers in the US and Canada (and I believe Mexico). You can confirm this after purchase by contacting a dealer's service department. You can also find this information in the FordPass app if you use it. So long as it shows in the system, it's just as valid as the one you overpaid for.

I'm not going to go so far as to say the guy I was working with lied. When I went back to the dealer with all my paperwork and the quotes from Flood and Granger, he looked over everything and seemed legitimately confused, turned his screen towards me and walked me through the steps of pulling up the protection and maintenance plans, even going to show that the lowest price he could pull up before any sort of dealer add on was about $1,200 cheaper than what I was sold but still nearly $1,500 more expensive than Flood, then pulled up both Flood and Granger's website and attempted to call them both on speaker phone to try and ask how they were getting the pricing they were.

With that stated, I've no illusion that what I was sold would have had a markup, I was just a little flabbergasted at how much of a markup it was when I started doing my research. My sales guy even agreed that if he couldn't get the pricing that I was being shown, it would absolutely make sense for me the cancel the contracts and go through one of the other dealers, so it's not like he is actively fighting to get me to keep them.

Yeah, I'm looking at the Premium 10 year, 100,000, which Flood is listing for $1,680 and the 10 year, 100,000 Full Synthetic maintenance plan, which Flood is listing for $1,720. What I was sold was $4,455 and $2,870, respectively, which is why even the sales guy was like "if I can't figure out how to price match those, then it absolutely makes sense to cancel and get it through them." 😬

Those prices you paid are just PLAIN FUCKIN ridiculous. plain and simple. And the maintenance plan is a JOKE. I get my tires rotated/oil changed every 10k for 60 bucks at goodyear. full syn. KEEP YOUR MONEY in your pocket! Don't be a fool.

Oh yeah, no kidding. Unfortunately, this is literally my very first new vehicle, so I was a bit unprepared for pricing. Fortunately, I knew that the contracts could be cancelled and it gave me time to look over them and research after the fact.

I have bought 2 ESP plans from Flood. The first one has already paid for itself when the A/C on my 16 F150 quit blowing in the middle of summer in AZ. It was not just a recharge but rather a few components that failed in a cascade. It was at the dealer for a week and a half and I was supplied with a 2yo Tahoe that was every reason not to buy GM

Email Granger Ford and get a quote on the plan you want - Ford ESP <[email protected]>. They are pretty quick getting back to you. You will need to provide the info on your Maverick - mileage, AWD or not, commercial use, snowplow use. If you haven't seen the prices for the different warranties take a look at Flood Ford ESP - https://www.floodfordesp.com. Granger will be $50 less but I think Flood Ford hasn't adopted the rate increases for this year yet. Look at the options, too, for first day rental, light bulbs, key fobs, and extended rental.

I would cancel those current contracts, ASAP.

I bought a Focus (Maverick will be replacing this vehicle) in 2017. I purchased a Ford ESP from Flood within a week of the purchase. I find interesting that sales guy would say that he called the Flood Ford website and was connected to Ford Corporate, didn't work that way when I talked to Flood in 2017. It is also interesting that Ford would be unaware of the offering, especially since I know my research in 2017 showed that Flood Ford was selling the ESP at discounted prices at that time. I'm not going to say that the sales guy isn't being truthful, I'm just gonna say that he is very misinformed.

My advice is to cancel your plan purchased from your dealer and get one from Flood, or Granger.

You updated your post since my original response, so wanted to reply again, but the maintenance plan is more than just tire rotation and oil change, fwiw. It includes:

  • Engine oil and filter changes
  • Multi-point inspections
  • Tire rotations
  • Brake pads and linings
  • Shock absorbers/struts
  • Spark plugs
  • Clutch discs
  • Engine belts
  • Engine coolant hoses, clamps and o-ring seals
  • Wiper blades

paying 1720 for a 100k service plan...is a real waste of money...you will need oil changes (5), tire rotations, maybe a set of brake pads, but probably not....shocks? don't think so, plugs? hell no...clutch discs...nope....belts...another hell no...coolant hoses....another huge hell no....maybe a set of wiper blades....KEEP YOUR MONEY IN YOUR POCKET!
