Ad wrap tailgate and two doors with descriptive info and drive around dealership periodically. Maybe get funded by MSRP dealer.🤷

Sounds like a good idea!!!

there is a guy who does deliveries in my town who did that with a GM Dealer
in huge stickers on the rear window it says "xxx sold me a lemon" with a total cost of repairs they've done do his truck - in Canada we don't have a lemon law but this dealer has pretty much rebuilt his truck from the ground up 😂

Here is the old and the "new" buyer order.
Neither of these have the managers signature nor your signature.

Without both signatures it is basically useless and not a valid contract.

Late to this thread. If i read previous posts correctly, dealer is selling you Maverick at msrp despite nothing signed. Go ASAP and take delivery of the Maverick. It’s exactly what you want.

Think you’ll feel better pricing out a comparable 2023 that may have less features than the one you ordered.

I looked at the quote the dealer sent him now. It's $38k because that includes taxes. They are not charging a markup. A lot of knee-jerk reactions here assumed it was a big markup, evil dealer, scummy situation. It's actually msrp. If there is any price protection that would be done by Ford.

I think thats the point, they are charging current MSRP ,
They should honor the original MSRP if he had a COVP and then they could get the refund from Ford. That's the way i see it but who knows.

On what planet does this make sense? If the dealer says "we want your business. Order through us and we will sell to you for X% under Invoice" but then 16 months later says "the market has changed so now pay the new MSRP (and we will keep the $2k difference from the old price protected MSRP), take or leave it. We hope you don't take it since we will make even more money on this deal", that is a bad (and potentially illegal) business practice. The dealer should be shamed repeatedly. Can you imagine how inflamed this community would be if Granger, Horsham, or any of the other big dealers that post here had done that?

By the way, I also went with this dealer. I talked to Marty48 last September when he responded to one of my posts about looking for a Texas dealer that was under MSRP. I have roughly a dozen Ford dealers within 50 miles of me but that all wanted MSRP or over. I contacted Texas Country Ford (which is 200+ miles from me but happens to be close to my parents home), and was sent the following message: " I’m the Business Development Manager here at Texas Country Ford. We aren’t going to loose your business over $500 dollars.". When I asked him to put that in writing, he then sent me the Buyer's Order similar to what you see in the post (clearly showing the $500 under MSRP) plus a seperate one that was more similar to a DORA. When I asked about the signed copy he stated "that one doesn't get signed until we have a VIN to put down. For now, we just sign the other one. Your price is locked in. All is good.". I am sure Marty48 was told the same.

From a contract standpoint here in Texas, this absolutely is a valid agreement (a signiture is very helpful, but NOT required). It can be argued as either a Breach of Contract or Promissory Estoppel (and in this case, my personal experience is that Promissory Estoppel likely being fairly easy to establish). Had this dealer not lied about their pricing, I clearly would have gone with a different dealer. Dealerships intentionally do things like this since most consumers are ignorant about the law and their associated rights. As noted in this thread, the cost of a lawyer is way more than they could expect to receive. Most folks also would be over-whelmed doing Pro Se litigation (or even going through Small Claims Court).

Back in the Spring (when everyone started having issues with dealers jacking up prices), I contacted Texas Country Ford and asked for documentation validating my out-the-door pricing. After multiple e-mails and calls, I was told that the Salesman I worked with had moved to Alaska (??) and that my original offer was not valid. I then went into "lawyer mode" and was finally told that they would honor my deal if it came in as a MY22 but I should find another dealer if I had to convert to a MY23. Ultimately, It never came in (my understanding is that of the 12 MY22 orders they had, they only had 5 get VINs as of mid-Summer. I was originally told I was #7 on their list.). What sucks, is that I still do not have access to my MY23 Private Offer so this dealer may end up costing me nearly $3k as well :-(

You are not reading the situation correctly. They absolutely are charging over $3k more than they originally agreed to. They originally offered "under MSRP" to attract customers but now seem to not be honoring that agreement. If that is not the very definition of an "deceitful dealer", I am not sure what is. No knee-jerk reaction here at all. Just facts.

The idea that this situation is acceptable since "they are still charging less than other scummy dealers" is just mind-blowing to me. I grew up in Texas where a man's hand-shake meant something. You were either credible or not. There is no middle ground.

Hopefully they will eventually sell to Marty48 for they price they originally agreed to. I am sure that if they do, he will let us know. Hopefully they tell Marty "woops. We made a mistake and sent you the wrong Buyer's Order. Our applogies.". Otherwise, this is a dealer to add to the "naughty" list.

I don't think there is much chance he will get that $32K+tax price. Odds aren't zero, but damn near it.

If they don't honor it is his next best alternative really to walk away? I don' t think it is.

He has the opportunity to buy a truck at MSRP that many, many people would want. Tens of thousands, literally. It would be crazy to walk instead of paying MSRP. The next person in line is going to be charged a hefty markup I'm sure.

The window sticker shows $35,665. That is what they are basing the price of the new buyers order they sent me. My selling price we agreed on was $32,646.
From what I know some dealers do this. Then send you the difference that they will get back from Ford. They may be looking to pocket that.

My dealer today told me I couldn't get the price protection AND the rate protection, that I had to choose. So I chose the rate. But my MSRP only went up $1300
That's a new one. Hope my dealer don't pull that.

This stories are SO annoying. I have a perfectly good truck now, so when mine arrives any day now I am not married to it. But I do really want to Mav and just hope my dealer doesn't pull any bullshit. Otherwise I might do as others have done and pay the small markup then flip the truck for profit. But my preference is for sure to have the Maverick as my new long term driver.

Rockhound has been a big help to me but in the end it’s their truck unless I take them to court which I am not prepared to do.

I just returned and we screamed at each other for half an hour. He was not going to move from current Msrp. That would have been attractive but I had that earlier better offer. I had already seen the truck and that Cactus Gray in the Texas sun was gorgeous! I knew I had to have it even though I plan on flipping it soon. So I bought it with only the manager promise to send me any protection money he receives from Ford. I still think I can make a few grand off of it. If not, I’ll just keep it. I pick it up tomorrow.

Did you get that promise in writing? Many dealers do this from what I understand but don't know if anyone ever got a check.

No, I did not get it in writing. Should have I guess but there was the Ford Rep there as a witness. However, I don't think I could trust her either.

What does the window sticker show the price as. Does it agree with what you signed up for. Just curious to see if ford added the mid year increase.
I just picked up my Lariat with luxury package, it was $31,000 (included copilot 360 and cyber orange paint) on my order one year ago, Oct 2021. When I went to pick it up the total with and tags was about $40,000. I explained that they were supposed to sell it for the original price on my paperwork a year ago. I mentioned the Vincent button I had read about here. They returned after a visit to their manager with my original pricing and I left a happy customer. Total with tax and tags about $34,000.
