Sunroofs are awesome. I guess because I live in Cali.
Probably awesome when they are new, but I've replaced enough rusted floor pans, molded interiors, etc. on older cars with sun roofs and T-tops that I have zero use for them. Since I never trade a car in, they just stick around till they get parked out back in 30 years I don't want to be replacing floor pans early on something.

I have had 4 cars with factory sunroof no issues. Aftermarket another story. That being said I don't like them. Maybe spoiled by some convertibles I have had.

So my dad owned an auto-glass shop for 30 years before he retired. Having worked there is high school he fixed a ton leaking sun roofs, while I was present. One of the biggest reasons was that the drainage channel for the sun roof would get clogged with tree debris, leaves, pine straw, acorns, etc... and cause that water to seep into the car and leak. Other times it was a bad seal around the glass, rusted through areas, or it was coming in some other place and just making its way out around the sun roof.

If you have access to an air hose you can mix a solution of about 70/30 water and dish soap, spread it around the area and blow air up from the inside. If it is a leak around the seal then it will most likely bubble up and you can find where exactly the water is coming in at.

First thing I would check is the drain to make sure it is clear of any junk, though.
How do you check and or fix a clog if it is down one of the drain tubes? Compressed air? A think tracer rod?

Yep, can of air should do it depending on what the clog is, you might need a long thin rod. I've seen him use an old metal coat hanger but that was on an old 80's lincoln or cadillac so on a newer vehicle those channels are probably smaller.

With all the rain in the northeast, my sunroof started leaking into the interior, driver's A-post by floor and front cupholder. Dealer checked and said it was the glass. They tried to adjust but could not fix it. Good thing, at most 2 weeks, directly from the supplier.
Do you feel you would have had the same glass issue if the truck was garage kept?
