My first post after lurking for a bit...

I have my 2023 Maverick ordered (Eco Boost, AWD, FX4 - simple build?), received my email from Ford and the dealer sent me a copy of an email from Ford stating they received and approved my COVP. That seems to be good news...

I ordered the FX4 package and I'm wondering if it is a constraint and if I should drop it...

I also did NOT order the 4K tow package because I read it is a constraint... I'd like to have it, but I don't want to delay my build.

Should I keep the FX4 or will I get a quicker build without it?

If I add the 4K tow, will this surely delay my build? It seems the only things I'm NOT getting with the 4K is the 7 pin, brake controller, oil cooler and different drive ratio? The FX4 comes with the heavier radiator and cooling fan - right?

I appreciate your recommendations...

My opinion: Get the truck you want. The fact you went EcoBoost puts you in better standing from the get go since the Hybrids were 80% of orders despite Ford only allowing Hybrids 35% of their production capacity. There is no sense spending $30,000 on a truck that isn't exactly what you want.

I want the 4K Tow and kept it. I didn't care about the Fx4 as I don't go that far offroad where AWD can't handle it. If Ford can't make it, I'll buy another truck. If they can, I plan to drive this thing until the wheels fall off. So, I want the truck configuration I want; not the one that makes me get it a week sooner.

I dunno fx4 and 4k towing share all the important hardware anyway. No idea why 4k would be constrained and fx4 wouldnt be.

Tow has a slightly different gear ratio.

Agreed! Get what you want and if you can't wait atleast 6mo for a vehicle then buy something else that fits your needs. For me, I haven't bought a vehicle in 10 years and I regretted not adding the 1 extra package to it. If you keep vehicles less than 5 years then it might bug you less to go without an option or two.

My 2022 XLT...I got all the constrained items...mud flaps, soft tonneau cover, 4k towing, luxury package, spray in bed liner, moon roof, rear window opening, paint protection film on front, etc.
Ordered June 23, 2021, received Aug. 2, 2022 with everything I ordered. Well worth the wait.

If you want it, I'd add it on it now while you can. I highly doubt what it adds on top of fx4 will be that much more constrained. You're already going to be waiting a few months. May as well get exactly as you want for your troubles and money. I went ahead and added what I wanted, constraints be damned. XLT, eco, FX4, 4K, copilot, luxury, rear slider, block heater. I'd rather not get exactly what I want than spend almost the same money and always wish I had added something.

I removed the splash guards. Two weeks later got a vin. Read here that they are not so great anyway. Could have been a coincidence. Ordered Dec 26th getting built now.

Get the 4K tow, it has the higher GCWR that you simply cannot add after the fact, plus the other goodies you mentioned. Even if not towing much I always try to get the best tow package in any truck, you never know what you will use it for down the road and it will help resale.

I think you hit the nail on the head there. Hardware like that isn't like a widget in the cab that is a minor inconvenience to not have later on. Better to have it and not need it than need it and not have it.

No one, not even ford, knows what the constraints will be like in 6 months when they start to look at your build for scheduling. Get what you want, going to likely take a year to get it no matter what anyway.

Order the truck you want. I ordered mine on 1/22/22 with the same specs as you. I thought it would be quick and boy I was wrong. The FX4 and 4K tow will be worth the wait.
