Ah, Florida. It fills me with joy knowing that I escaped many years ago. Yeah, I traded hurricanes for earthquakes, but it's not a bad trade.

On topic though, be safe folks, and make sure that your tanks are a minimum of half full. Remember that gas stations need power to pump, and internet connectivity to process non-cash transactions, and even then, that's assuming that they're not absolutely slammed, especially if they're on an evacuation route.

Remember 1960's Star Trek's Mr. Spock, and how calm and collected he was. Try not to panic.

Good luck!

How many of my fellow Floridians are prepped to stay or GTFO of Dodge?
Staying in place and hunkering down. Ian will miss us in Panama City. Michael came through 4 years ago and we stayed, too.

We lived in the Clearwater/Dunedin area for about 5 years...I think the biggest issue is that people who have been skirted by hurricanes in the past 5-10 years in Tampa Bay think they're prepared and in reality, they have no experience with this type of storm. My family still there has a flippant attitude about it all, which is one way you deal with it I guess. 7-10 ft of storm surge will knock your house off the foundation. Hope it doesn't get as ugly as it looks right now and everybody stays safe.

I'll take 2 feet of overnight lake effect snow instead of a hurricane anytime.
Good luck to you Floridians.
