As far as the chip situation Ford has THOUSANDS of completed pickups sitting in holding lots waiting for chips. These will get chips before most new builds.
Holy cow that's a lot of trucks!! I'm sure there are some bean counters fighting over the chips that are being produced. Between vehicles built and those getting built the battle must be fierce! 👿

According Tim Bartz they are not taking reservation on the Ford website. If you want a Maverick, now you have to go to your a dealership and place your reservation.
I knew reservations were closed on-line, but I thought people were advised to go to a dealer to place an order. What would be the point of making a reservation now when actual orders are already being filled and built?

Because like any other vehicle that Ford makes, you can go to the dealership and built an order to your specs then wait for it to be built. This way you can get what you want and without all the dealer add-ons that jack up the price. Otherwise you go to the dealership and hope they have something you like without to many options you don't like.

Thats just 1 storage lot in Kentucky. There are more storage lots in the US. There are as many or more in lots in Detroit as well.

It's just incredible when you can see lots like this and try to grasp the amount of vehicles being manufactured each day by all the different car makers. If more people saw this then maybe there would a bit more understanding that each car manufacture is competing for nearly the same raw materials and not just against other car manufacturers!

Kinda related to all this…I thought Ford was going to start shipping vehicles to dealers to wait on chips. I’d much rather have my Maverick sitting at my local dealer than in the middle of the desert for 6 months. But I haven’t actually heard of any of that happening.
I thought so too I have read that they have over 60 THOUSAND trucks waiting and that is only in Kentucky. You would have to add in Kansas City and Detroit where other vehicles are also parked - https://www.motorbiscuit.com/a-sea-of-incomplete-ford-f-150-pickups-over-60000-and-counting/

Ford, like every other manufacturer of everything, is learning to cope with expected and completely unexpected shortages of parts and materials from offsite contractors who are experiencing unexpected shortages of materials, parts, and labor themselves. Ford NEVER promised us a Maverick in September. Or October.

We all need to chill out. Go try to buy a refrigerator or something. There's a shortage of those too.
You are right... Ford said “COMING in Fall.” Fall ain’t here yet folks, and it’s not over either. We are a nation spoiled by Amazon Prime.

Different chips from Maverick, I read somewhere. Don’t have a source.

Fords chips have come from one company in the past - Renesas and I haven't heard of any other sourcing from another supplier otherwise I would have bought stock. Whether they are the same chips or not Ford has nearly 1 MILLION vehicles completed waiting on chips.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I heard that the shortage was mostly affecting F150 and some edge models. per this article Ford should be back on track to clear out those lots.
