The latter. Solid rubber of some kind. Grooved.
Secured with 3 strips of peel-off tape, akin to the stuff securing the vent-visors. Cut, xacto knife, to meet the fender flares.
Great stuff. This is the third vehicle on which I’ve used it.

I have found that Body Side Molding is pretty useless as you can't determine what vehicle parks next to you with said vehicles either being taller or shorter with their door edges hitting above or below wherever you place the Body Side Molding resulting in door dings.

I agree and posted as much earlier in this thread. If one intends to add something graphic on the side, this would be a good option, offering protection with the styling.

Same as Amazon. I just received my molding in carbonized gray. The product is great. American made. They shipped them in a hard tube and they were wrapped in a cloth sleeve to keep them from getting damaged during shipping.

I'm glad I found both threads on the subject. I'm debating the body colored Velocity Blue (color code E7) versus the wider and black Ford moulding. I'm in discussions with the aftermarket manager at LM on the practical application midway up the doors and not near the bottom on Ford's website.
